A husband and wife are accused of running a “busy” brothel out of their Northern California day spa, where sexual services were offered to “sex buyers” every day, according to prosecutors.

A human trafficking investigation revealed the San Jose couple, Lin Wang, 46, and Xian Wang, 48, have made about $700,000 each year with their alleged brothel business based at Hummingbird Day Spa in Cupertino, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office said in a Thursday, September 17, news release.

The Wangs, who’ve owned the spa since 2022, are accused of consistently having about 30 male customers who allegedly came to the business each day for sex services.

Lin, Xian and their managing employee, Rui Wang, 42, of Sunnyvale, are each charged with several felonies, including pimping and pandering, money laundering and tax and payroll fraud, according to prosecutors.

California authorities made more than 600 arrests — and saved 170 victims throughout the state — during a weeklong effort to crackdown on human trafficking, Los Angeles County officials announced. As part of “Operation Reclaim and Rebuild” led by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, 156 adults and 14 children were rescued over the course […]

“There is no room in our neighborhoods for working brothels,” Santa Clara District Attorney Jeff Rosen said in a statement. “There is no room in Santa Clara County for the criminal exploitation of human beings.”

Lin, Xian and Rui were all arrested on September 10, according to the district attorney’s office.

The investigation into Hummingbird Day Spa reportedly began in March 2026 in response to local community members alerting law enforcement to alleged illegal sex services at the business.

The spa is now listed as permanently closed online.

“Evidence shows that the business, marketed to male customers, had a high volume of men entering the establishment over a short period of time each day,” the office said.

The Wangs were also alleged to have underreported their payroll by more than $100,000 each year, according to the investigation.

In March, a federal jury in Manhattan found identical twin brothers, Alon Alexander and Oren Alexander, as well as their older brother, Tal Alexander, guilty of sex trafficking. They are accused of funneling illicit profits through mortgage payments linked to residences in San Jose and Chino Hills, as well as “through investments,” prosecutors said.

Lin, Xian and Rui are all accused of gathering, hiding and using illegal money in connection with the alleged brothel to continue operating their business, support their personal expenses and mortgages.

The district attorney’s office said that all three of them “have been involved in long term pimping and pandering operations, money laundering, tax irregularities, and payroll fraud.”

Lin, Xian and Rui appeared in court on Thursday for an arraignment, following which the hearing was continued to September 24 to enter pleas.

The trio remained in custody with bail set at $150,000 each.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the defendants had retained legal counsel.
