Hilary Duff is coming clean.
The actress boasted about her âtalentâ for cutting out friends who arenât ârightâ in a podcast interview weeks before her drama with Ashley Tisdale.
While speaking to Jake Shane in a November 2025 âTherapussâ episode, Duff recalled learning who to trust from an early age.
âIâve always had a really good gauge with people â I think itâs, like, a little talent that I have really good friends and it doesnât take me long to figure someone out [and] figure out if someoneâs not for me,â the former Disney Channel star admitted, noting sheâs the âmom of [her] friend groups.â
The âLizzie McGuireâ alum noted that âfriendship breakups could possibly be worse than a breakup breakup.â
As for how she cuts ties with ex-pals, the 38-year-old said, âYou have to own it and be like âI canât show up for you in this capacity right now. Itâs overwhelming. Like, I need some space.ââ
She continued, âIâve had to do it a few times. I always want my side of the street to be clean. I donât want to make anyone feel bad, but my actions â Iâd rather have a conversation about it.â
The âWhat Dreams Are Made Ofâ singerâs comments resurfaced after Tisdale called out her former mom group â which Duff belongs to â for allegedly âtoxicâ behavior.
In an essay for The Cut published on New Yearâs Day, the âHigh School Musicalâ alum described feeling ânot cool enoughâ after being excluded from hangouts.
Tisdale, 40, recalled texting the group, âThis is too high school for me and I donât want to take part in it anymore.â
Although the âHigh School Musicalâ star ânever considered the moms to be bad people [except for] maybe one,â she chose to ditch them after the âdynamic stopped being healthy and positive.â
The mom group, in part, includes Duff, Mandy Moore and Meghan Trainor â and although Tisdale did not name-drop anyone in the essay, eagle-eyed fans noticed she no longer follows Duff and Moore on social media.
Page Six pieced together a timeline, discovering that the last time Tisdale was pictured hanging out with the group was December 2024.
Though all of the mothers in the group have remained tight-lipped about the viral essay, their husbands have stepped up to the plate.
Matthew Koma, Duffâs partner, trolled Tisdale by sharing a photo meant to mock her promo for the article.
Atop a portrait of Koma looking pensive, a headline read, âA mom group tell all through a fatherâs eyes: When Youâre the Most Self-Obsessed Tone Deaf Person on Earth, Other Moms Tend to Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers.â
âMatthew gave her what she had coming,â a source familiar with the feud told Page Six Wednesday, claiming Tisdale is âinsufferable.â
The insider further said that the friend breakup âhas been a long time coming.â
Tisdaleâs husband, Christopher French, on the other hand, shared his own cryptic message on social media.
âItâs your choice whether or not to engage,â read his Instagram Story repost.
