Hart to Hart co-stars Robert Wagner and Stefanie Powers reunited on Wednesday to celebrate the actorâs 96th birthday, with Robert sharing a snap from the special moment.Â
The pair, who starred in the hit show from 1979 to 1984, wrapped their arms around each other as they smiled for the camera, with Robert dressed in a blue zip-up sweater and Stefanie in a white collared shirt with black polka dots.Â
âWhen Jonathan and Jennifer reunite, itâs always something special. Thank you, Stefanie, for the beautiful birthday visit,â he wrote in the caption, as fans rushed to the comment section to share the love.Â
âFor all the joy you have brought to us as Jonathan and Jennifer Hart, we thank you! Awesome picture!â wrote one fan, while another added: âTimeless elegance and eternal friendship! Thank you for all the joy you bring us!âÂ
âYou know itâs special when two people can come back together after many years, and they still have that same âzingâ. Great show, Great stars,â said a third, while another chimed in: âLove this! You both look wonderful.âÂ
Stefanie shared her birthday wishes on Facebook, writing: âCelebrating another birthday for RJ, may there be many more.âÂ
Robert and Stefanie starred as self-made millionaire Jonathan Hart and freelance writer Jennifer Hart, a childless and wealthy couple who solved crimes on the side. The show ran for five seasons and was followed by eight successful TV movies, the last of which was released in 1996.Â
âThere are so many wonderful memories,â Stefanie told Fox News of their time on the show. âI saw [Robert] two days ago. And every time we see each other, we talk about, âDo you remember when?â It crops up all these little memoriesâŠHart to Hart was a gift because it played on both of our sensibilities.âÂ
The friends developed a close bond on the show, which deepened after they both lost their spouses while filming the series. Stefanieâs husband, Sabrina star William Holden, died after a fall in his home in November 1981. Just two weeks later, Robertâs movie star wife, Natalie Wood, drowned during a boat trip off the coast of California.Â
âWe leaned on each other for support,â Stefanie told the outlet. âAnd we also understood that we had committed to doing a television series. It had to go on. The show had to go on, and no one wouldâve understood that more than the partners we both lost.âÂ
âIt was a very difficult time,â she continued. âWe were held up by a lot of wonderful people and friends, some mutual friends and some on each side of the coin. And [Robert] had daughters. He also had children to keep supportingâŠemotionally. So it was a complicated and difficult time.âÂ
Stefanie went on to marry French aristocrat Patrick Houitte de La Chesnais in 1993, yet the couple divorced six years later. She was then in a relationship with auditor Tom Carroll from 2000 until his death in 2014. Nine years after Natalieâs death, Robert married his longtime friend, Jill St. John, and they are still loved-up decades later. Â
