Harrison Ford thanks his ‘extraordinary’ wife after receiving SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award

Harrison Ford is grateful to a lot of people, including his wife Calista Flockhart, after receiving the Life Achievement Award at the 2026 Actors Awards.

He was named the 61st recipient of SAG-AFTRA’s highest honor: the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award for his career and humanitarian accomplishments. The 83-year-old actor was presented his award by fellow actor and longtime friend, Woody Harrelson.

“I’m still a working actor,” the legendary actor said, after joking that he was just halfway through his career. Harrison thanked a slew of people who impacted him throughout his career – George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and of course, his wife, Calista.

“I want to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart to my extraordinary, beautiful wife, Calista,” the actor said, clearly emotional. “And my family, who have given me love and courage through all of it.”

Calista looked on with tears in her eyes, cheering on her husband. Harrison wrapped up his speech with a joke, telling the crowd: “[This award] is encouraging.”

How long have Harrison Ford and Calista Flockard been together?

The couple met at an award show almost 25 years ago. In 2002, Harrison and Calista were both nominated for awards at the 59th Golden Globes. The Indiana Jones actor was 60 years old at the time and 22 years older than Calista.

But, they clicked. In 2003, a year after meeting, Harrison opened up about his relationship with the younger actress. “I’m in love,” he said. “Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love and I think there is a potential for it at any stage of your life. I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn’t surprised that I did.”

Eight years after connecting on the red carpet, Harrison and Calista tied the knot. The actors married at the Governor’s Mansion in Santa Fe.

Before meeting Calista, Harrison had been married twice. The Star Wars actor was with chef Mary Marquardt for 15 years and welcomed two children together – Ben, 59, and Willard, 56. In 1983, Harrison married Melissa Mathison. While together, the couple welcomed two  children – Malcolm, 37, and Georgia, 35.

Calista had a son of her own before meeting Harrison. The Aly McBeal star adopted her son, Liam, in 2001. After marrying her, Harrison adopted Liam as well.

For years, Harrison has admired his wife as she took care of their son. At the premiere of his Apple TV+ comedy, Shrinking, the actor told People: “[Calista’s] just going back to work after having devoted herself to the raising of our son, Liam, for the last 20 years.”
