Halle Berry flaunted a dazzling diamond ring as she announced her engagement to her longtime partner Van Hunt on February 5. The actress revealed the exciting news during an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
âWell, thereâs some confusion that he asked to marry me and I said no,â she shared. âNo, thatâs not the case. I did not say no. We just donât have a date. But of course I said I would marry him! He did put a little ring on it.â
With its square-cut design, checkered accents, and central diamond, Halleâs ring makes a striking statement atop a large gold band.
The announcement comes after Halle opened up to The Cut earlier this week about her thoughts on a pending nuptials. âI havenât said âyes.â I donât think we need to be married to have a meaningful relationship. I donât know if we will ever get married,â she shared. However, Halle said that âhealth reasonsâ and making medical decisions for one another are exceptions to her views on marriage.
Halle and Van confirmed they were officially dating on 12 September 2020 and made their red carpet-debut at the Oscars on 25 April 2021. Prior to her romance with the record producer, the actress was previously married three times: to David Justice from 1993 to 1997, to Eric Benét from 2001 to 2005 and to Olivier Martinez from 2013 to 2016.
The Oscar-winning actress Halle is a doting mother to two children; a son Maceo, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Oliver Martinez, and a daughter Nahla, whom she shares with ex Gabriel Aubry. Van has one son, Drake, from a previous relationship.
Halle Berryâs previous engagement ring
Halleâs new engagement ring is very different from the previous one presented to her by her ex-husband Olivier. Olivier commissioned the dazzling piece from Parisian designer Robert Mazlo. The ring featured a 4-carat emerald with two diamonds in a textured, yellow-gold setting.
While it didnât have an inscription, it did contain a special meaning. âThe ring is textured and contains codes and symbols which you cannot see⊠only the person wearing it can,â the jeweller told People. âItâs very uncommon. The symbols and codes represent (the coupleâs story) and only they can interpret it.â
