Karen E. Laine is selling the colorful beach bungalow she just renovated on Good Bonesâ recent spinoff, after previously saying she planned to retire there.
The one bedroom, one bathroom Wilmington, N.C. home was listed last week for $500,000, after the HGTV star purchased it for just $70,000 in 2023.
The listingâs description on Zillow states that itâs, âCompletely rebuilt starting with the foundation, all the way up to brand new solar panels. This is essentially new construction on a small, quiet street.â
Other highlights include white oak floors, an âefficientâ kitchen and a low-maintenance outdoor space.Â
âThe huge second story loft would be perfect for an artist or home business,â the listing adds.
Good Bones returned for a three-episode spinoff in August after ending its original eight-season run last year. The limited series focused on ânew beginningsâ for Laine and her daughter, Mina Starsiak Hawk, as they embarked on separate projects in different states.
Starsiak Hawk has revealed on her podcast, Mina AF, that there were tensions between her and her mother, and the pair appear to have filmed the three new episodes entirely separately.
The second and third installment of the spinoff focused on Karenâs efforts to transform the 120-year-old cottage, while facing various challenges.
Laine explained her decision to make the purchase and relocate from her Indianapolis home to North Carolina during a conversation with three members of the original Good Bones crew: MJ Coyle, Cory Miller and Austin Aynes.
âI am tired of Indiana winter,â she told the trio. âAnd I had this idea: Wouldnât it be nice to retire in Wilmington?â
âI went there once and I loved it,â she added. âSo I went back in January. It was 80 degrees during the day. So I got on the interwebs and I found a house for sale and I bought it.â

Laine initially noted that she had her work cut out for her, adding, âThis house is like one of our original Good Bones houses â just wretched.â
âIt needs a lot of love, but we can fix anything,â she added.
Ultimately, the season finale ended with her showing off what sheâd done with the cozy cottage, including a vibrant teal-painted floor.
âI want you to feel like youâre at the beach, with no seashells sign that says âlife is a beach,â you know, all those things.â
PEOPLE was not able to reach Laine for comment on her change of heart regarding the house.
The home renovation expert and former attorney also reflected on her life since retiring.
Laine started the Indianapolis-based business Two Chicks and a Hammer with Starsiak Hawk in 2007. While Laine stepped back from the company five years ago, she continued to appear on Good Bones alongside her daughter and their team.
âIâm not working for a paycheck anymore,â she said. âI retired in 2019, and I can do anything I want.âÂ
