The Mansion Men returned to tell all on Wednesday, Nov. 6, for possibly the least dramatic Men Tell All in Bachelor Nation history.
After a look back at the bromance that formed among Joan Vassos’ 24 suitors and reliving the iconic Chippendales group date, Michael revealed that right before coming on The Golden Bachelorette, he was diagnosed with cancer. But at the insistence of his children and with the approval of his doctor, the retired banking CEO, 65, moved forward with going on the show.
“What could’ve been a really lousy, difficult year instead was kind of a great one because I got this amazing experience tucked into it,” Michael said. “And I’m going to be fine. It was caught early. And I just want to thank this terrific group of guys and I want to thank Joan because I’m truly grateful for that experience. It came at just the right time for me.”
CHARLES L. TAKES CHARGE
After Mark and Jonathan — who later revealed that he met someone special — entered the hot seat with host Jesse Palmer, Charles L. had his turn. First, he responded to what it felt like to become a “pop culture icon,” as Jesse, 46, put it.
“It is a surprise. I’m thrilled,” Charles L., 66, said.
Jesse also asked Charles L. about how his hair went from gray to black. “I think it’s due to food I ate when I was away,” the retired financial analyst joked.
Charles L. also offered up other revelation. “I was never on TV before at all and Jesse, if you don’t mind, I even didn’t know your name very well before,” he said. “Don’t be hard on me, you know.”
Jesse responded, “Only because you’re a celebrity now, I’ll let that pass.”
On a more serious note, Charles L. told Jesse that he felt ready to date again.
“I was worried, I don’t know what my daughters would think about me to date again,” Charles L. said. “This is really, really [a] concern [for] me and also I was not sure what my relatives would think about me due to my cultural background. But the support I received, the love I received from daughter and my families and relatives, that worry’s gone. So I would use the world, my body is lighter than before and I hope, you know, one day I would meet that lucky one.”
From the studio audience, one woman shouted to Charles L., “We think you should be our next Golden Bachelor!”
PASCAL TEARS DOWN HIS WALLS
Before Pascal took the hot seat, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles sang the Mansion Men song that Gil wrote.
Then, Pascal, 69, reflected on his choice to exit before going into the Fantasy Suite with Joan. “It was a very difficult decision I had to make,” he said. “It just felt like, with more time, I could’ve been there, but I wasn’t at the time.”
The salon owner added that he hoped he “didn’t hurt” Joan, 61. “That was not my intention,” Pascal said. “And she’s a very wonderful woman and you know, now I’m watching and I see her saying she’s not worthy of love — she’s totally wrong. I think she is worthy of love, I just wasn’t able to give her what she was looking for at the time. I was too guarded.”
Pascal felt that his time with Joan helped him realized “where I’m at now.” “I’m ready to bring down my walls,” he said.
When Joan came out to the stage, Pascal told her, “You are an incredible woman and I hope that by me leaving, you were able to find the right person for yourself.”
The mom of four confessed that she did see a future with Pascal. “I pictured a life with you and I know that that Tahitian bonding ceremony was very uncomfortable for you, and I thought maybe in Fantasy suites we could’ve figured out something in either direction, but you had already made up your mind. You were very kind and I just want the best for you. I want you to be happy.”
Joan proceeded to tell the rest of her exes that she wanted to “have a friendship” with all of them.
She also teased how her season ended with just Chock and Guy left in the race for her heart. “It was emotional and there are a lot of tears,” she said during Men Tell All. “But I will tell you that some of them are happy tears.”
