GMA’s Lara Spencer shares sunkissed photos from Italy after ’emotional’ final college drop-off with daughter

Lara Spencer is soaking up the last few weeks of summer.

Over the weekend, the Good Morning America anchor shared a glimpse into her Italian getaway with husband Richard McVey, the CEO of MarketAxess.

The That Thrifting Show host has been married to the entrepreneur since 2018; she was previously married to David Haffenreffer from 2000 to 2015, and they share two children, son Duff, 24, and daughter Katharine, 22.

Taking to Instagram, Lara shared a slew of photos from Ortigia in Sicily, first a snap of her walking down a hotel hallway, dressed in a white button-down shirt paired with a printed skirt.

She next shared a photo of Richard walking down a quaint Italian street, followed by another few snaps of her, looking perfectly sunkissed, walking around the town.

“Coming and going,” she wrote, and fans were quick to take to the comments section under the post and gush over it.

“Ortigia looks good on you guys!” one wrote, as others followed suit with: “Beautiful, Lara!” and: “Love this outfit and all the other clothes. You look very relaxed!” as well as: “You look marvelous as always.”

Prior to her trip to Italy, Lara shared an emotional post as she prepared to drop her youngest daughter, who goes to Vanderbilt University, off at college for one last time. “I am sure this post flows a bit too easily because I am so tired…but I am feeling so emotional tonight and I know so many of you can relate as we send our kids back to college (or the first time-even harder).”

“Tomorrow I will drive this little girl to her senior year at her dream school. We leave at 5 am for 14 hours of amazing mother daughter time. I am so grateful for the opportunity and so lucky I have a job that has allowed me to be there for the games and plays and all the moments…” Lara wrote.

“I cherish every one of them,” she continued. “But my lord it goes by so fast. It feels like slow motion when they are babies and you are over your head — and during the younger school years too.”

She added: “And then somewhere in high school it feels like-at least it did for me — that life hits the gas pedal and it all happens way too quickly. ‘The days are long but the years fly by.’ My mom used to say that and as usual she was right.”

“Good luck to all the kids going back to school. Be safe; make good choices; enjoy every minute. Moms and Dads — Big hugs to you. I feel your pain. Let’s all remember-we [did] a good job,” she concluded.
