It’s the year of Glen Powell — and there’s photo evidence!
The actor, who turns 36 on Oct. 21, 2024, has had a breakthrough year with Anyone but You opposite Sydney Sweeney and an action star turn with Hit Man. His Twisters costar, Daisy Edgar-Jones, declared a “Glen Powell Summer” in a conversation with PEOPLE before the release of their disaster thriller.
From raising his adorable dog Brisket to inviting his parents to troll him on the red carpet, Powell has won fans with his charming film performances and hilarious off-screen persona. Top Gun: Maverick costar Tom Cruise even signed off on Powell’s rise to leading man status when he appeared at the Twisters premiere in London.

Lessons in On-Screen Chemistry
The tension between Powell and Sweeney’s characters was so palpable that fans believed the pair were dating in real life.
“We sold a rom-com,” Sweeney told PEOPLE, shutting down the rumors.
Powell made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live for his costar’s hosting gig, and they poked fun at the allegations of an affair.
Hot ‘Hit Man’
It seems like chemistry comes easy to Powell. In his leading role for Hit Man, which released on Netflix in June, he developed a steamy relationship to kill for (hit man joke) with Adria Arjona’s Madison.
A Family Man
He has a great sense of humor, too. At his induction to the Texas Film Hall of Fame, the star posed on the carpet in front of his parents Cyndy and Glen Sr., who held up signs trolling him.
“Stop trying to make Glen Powell happen,” one read.
“It’s never gonna happen,” said the other.
Dapper Dog Dad
Of course, Powell really only exists as a vehicle to promote his rescue dog Brisket, whom he adopted in 2023 while filming Twisters; his costar in that movie, Daisy Edgar-Jones, nominated Brisket for PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive.

In a post dedicated to Brisket, Powell snuck in a thirst trap at the end of the carousel to attempt to regain the spotlight.
Winning Smile
Continuing his run of hit films in 2024, Powell led Twisters, the standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister. He portrayed popular YouTube storm chaser Tyler Owens, who sweeps Edgar-Jones’ Kate Carter off her feet and back into the world of tornado hunting.
Cowboy Couture
Powell has stepped up his red carpet style for his many premieres this year. One of his best was an all-black outfit with a white-trimmed blazer for the Twisters premiere in London.
Men of Action
Also at the London premiere, Tom Cruise — an action movie phenom in his own right — came to support his Top Gun: Maverick castmate Powell.
“When your wingman follows you into the storm… 😎🌪️🇬🇧,” Powell captioned his post of the pair, who buddied up with their popcorn buckets.
