Gillian Anderson showed up at the 2025 SAG Awards wearing another attention-grabbing look.
On Sunday, Feb. 23, The Crown star, 56, arrived at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles as one of the night’s presenters — but she totally stole the show on the red carpet. The actress looked radiant in a black ankle-length Carolina Herrera dress with white flowers.
Her slightly sheer strapless dress featured a voluminous skirt that offered a peek at her black heels. It had a hint of sparkle all over that caught the light if she turned just right. She accessorized with dazzling Martin Katz jewels and wore her hair in an effortless low ponytail.
Inside the show, she reunited with her X-Files costar David Duchovny to present the award for best ensemble cast, which ultimately went to Shōgun.
The Sex Education actress has a history of wearing statement-making outfits to red carpet events. Last year at the 2024 Golden Globes, Anderson wore a custom ivory strapless gown by Gabriela Hearst embroidered with vaginas.
“[I wore it] for so many reasons,” the actress told Deadline on the red carpet, adding, “it’s brand appropriate.”
During an interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on April 3, 2024, the host asked if Anderson expected the dress to make “such a splash.” Her response: “Not really.”
“It was an idea, it happened, it was manifested,” she explained.

“It must’ve taken forever,” Colbert commented. “Forever. Many many many hours, many vaginas — vulvas,” Anderson replied, correcting herself. According to the house, each motif on the dress took 3.5 hours to embroider.
Inside the awards ceremony, the actress told PEOPLE the dress had floral inspirations too, as “it’s covered in peonies!”
Days after the awards ceremony, Anderson took to Instagram to reflect on some of her most iconic looks. In the Jan. 22, 2024, post, the actress shared photos from her 2023 British Fashion Awards outfit and a throwback to the 2001 Vanity Fair Oscar Afterparty.
At the fashion awards, The X-Files alum wore a red velvet Valentino gown that dipped down to her navel and down her back. The dress dipped on the sides too, adding a bit of sexiness to the look.
At the 2001 afterparty, which she reminisced about, Anderson arrived in an Eduardo Lucero dress with a cinched waist. While the dress was iconic in itself, it needed to be seen from the back as Anderson let her peekaboo thong do all the talking.
