Gillian Anderson proved she is still a fashion force when she stepped onto the runway during the Miu Miu Paris Fashion Week show on Tuesday.

The 57-year-old closed out the show in a pale yellow sleeveless shift dress featuring detailed embellishments on the front, and paired the look with brown leather heels and a zig-zag headband.

While Gillian has always put on a show on the red carpet ever since her early days on The X-Files, she recently revealed how much celebrity fashion had changed over the years with the rise of personal stylists.

“For a long time, I didn’t have [a stylist]. The red-carpet process was much less organized then. Your agent might have relationships with a few fashion brands, and they’d send some things over, and it would be me trying things on at home in my bedroom,” she told The Telegraph.

“I spent a long time getting it wrong, feeling somehow I wasn’t projecting who I am…I’ve found defined silhouettes, highlighting my waist, and strong, solid colours [are] a good strategy.”

Gillian is defying Hollywood norms with every step she makes and is working to break down barriers around aging in the film industry.

“I certainly feel that and have been embracing that and really properly leaning into it and taking advantage of it,” she told The Kit about aging. “What’s interesting is when I’ve been asked about it, there’s part of my brain that just thinks, ‘Well, of course. I mean, why wouldn’t it be?'”

“To see women our age showing that not only is there a next, but it’s a really fantastic next is really important,” she continued. “I encourage women to look forward to this time and not be afraid of this time, but to know that it can be incredibly positive and empowering – actually more empowering than some of the other decades that we’ve lived.”

“I’m not afraid of my age or the changes that are happening. I feel proud to be the age that I am,” she added. “I’m continuing to build and to grow and do what I set my mind to.”

The British-American actress also looks to European women for advice on how to age gracefully, as she told New Beauty.

“I think in Europe, in general, there’s a sense that women who age naturally can be beautiful, whereas I’m not so sure that’s the perception in America, specifically in LA. I think that it’s seen as a flaw, somehow – like wrinkles are a flaw.”

In her daily life, Gillian maintains her health by doing yoga several times a week, going for runs and eating clean. “When I get enough sleep, meditate, eat healthfully and have a balance in my life between work, family and friends and have cultural intellectual stimulation – it’s a lot to ask,” she told the publication. “But, when that balance is right, I probably feel the most fulfilled and the happiest.”
