George and Amal Clooney rush to Cindy Crawford’s side after son’s tragic death

George and Amal Clooney have flown to the aid of their friends, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, after the A-list couple’s son, Presley Gerber, passed away on Sunday, September 20.

George and Amal, who share a close bond with the supermodel and her husband, were spotted pulling up to Cindy’s daughter Kaia Gerber’s house in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The duo came to support the family in their grief, after 27-year-old Presley died of a suspected overdose just 12 hours after checking himself into rehab. 

“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” a representative told HELLO!

According to the Daily Mail, George previously told Presley that he was “here for [him]” amid his struggles with addiction and substance abuse. Cindy’s kids reportedly referred to the actor as “Uncle George”, pointing to their close bond with the 65-year-old.

George reportedly supported Presley through his public addiction struggles and had his own experience with hard drugs, telling Esquire in 2025 that he dabbled in cocaine in the ’80s.

A lifelong friendship

George’s friendship with the Gerber family goes back decades, after he met Rande in the ’90s at the bar the businessman owned at the Paramount Hotel in New York City.

“George was shooting a movie there, and came into one of my places, and walked up to the bar,” Rande recalled to Nobleman. “We both had a tequila together, and kind of became friends right there. Like many great stories, ours started over tequila! And the rest is history, as they say.”  

The pair co-founded the tequila brand Casamigos together in 2013 alongside Mike Meldman, and sold it four years later for a whopping $1 billion.  

“It was just for us,” Rande told CNBC of their brand. “We didn’t really want to be in the business. We figured, George is an actor and a director. I own restaurants and bars and wasn’t looking to get into another business.”

“It was important that it tasted great and didn’t burn going down,” he continued. “We wanted one that we could drink straight or on the rocks. One that we could drink all day and all night, and not be hungover in the morning.”

Cindy is also close with George’s wife, Amal, and praised the human rights lawyer in an interview with People. “I think one of the things I love about Amal is that she’s not only interesting – she’s very interesting to talk to – but she’s also interested in your world as well,” the 60-year-old shared. “She can talk to my kids about their thing, or she’ll talk to me about my book or my business.”

Presley had been open in the past about his mental health struggles and was arrested for driving under the influence in 2019.

The model used his experiences to help others going through similar battles, and was open about the highs and lows of his recovery.
