Gene Hackman’s Daughter Elizabeth Jean Hackman Speaks Out After Death of Actor, Wife and Dog
The investigation into Gene Hackman’s death is facing some hurdles.
While the two-time Oscar winner and his wife Betsy Arakawa were found dead in their New Mexico home—along with one of their three dogs—Feb. 26, pinpointing an exact sequence of events leading up to the discovery has proven to be “difficult,” according to Santa Fe County Sheriff Adam Mendoza.
“We’re trying to put things together, put together a timeline—when the decedents were last seen and were spoken to,” he told Savannah Guthrie on Today Feb. 28. “We understand that is a challenge because they were very private individuals and a private family. We’re trying to put all that information together right now.”
During a press conference later that day, Mendoza shared that Hackman, who was 95, likely died Feb. 17 based on the last recorded “event” on his pacemaker. However, authorities are still determining whether he or his 65-year-old wife passed away first.
