Gavin Rossdale felt lucky to be neighbors with Britney Spears.
The Bush frontman called the pop star “lovely” while recounting a pool day the pair had while living next door to one another in the mid-2000s.
During Tuesday’s episode of SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio, the show’s co-host Evan Real asked Rossdale, “There is an interview that Britney Spears did forever ago, where she just randomly said, ‘One time I went swimming with Gavin Rossdale.’ Do you remember swimming with Britney Spears?”
“Of course, how could you forget that?” he responded. “We were neighbors and so she came around when the kids were small and she was a real character and I got on really well with her.”
“She was lovely. She was amazing,” Rossdale gushed before adding, “She’s a great swimmer.”
Real then asked the musician if his sons — Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo, whom he shares with ex-wife Gwen Stefani — ever played with Spears’ sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
The “Comedown” singer cheekily replied, “Too busy chatting with Britney!”
Spears first revealed she took a dip with Rossdale during a 2015 interview with Australia’s “The Project.”
“I would love to work with Gwen Stefani,” the musical icon shared. “I think she’s really cool. She was actually my next door neighbor in Los Angeles for a while. I swam with her husband so it was really cool.”
Spears and Rossdale were seemingly neighbors around 2007, while living in The Summit, a gated community in Beverly Hills.
At the time, Rossdale was still married to Stefani, whom he tied the knot with in 2002. The exes split in 2016.
Spears, meanwhile, was single after divorcing Federline in 2007 following three years of marriage.
Despite moving zip codes, the former neighbors have continued to show support to one another over the years.
In 2021, Spears posted a video of herself to Instagram, dancing to “Glycerine” by Bush, which she said was her “favorite song in high school.”
The “Toxic” artist then shared the infamous swimming pool story.
The Grammy nominee reposted the clip, writing, “@britneyspears i love you – best video – sweetest words.”
Rossdale once again praised Spears in 2023, penning on social media, “I had the pleasure of waking up to @britneyspears dancing to glycerine.”
“I looked at her page and amongst the fun I read her Acknowledgment of how good she is at hiding her pain and that instagram is not A true temperature of what was happening in her life and her sadness had to be muted,” he continued.
Rossdale added that “everyone walks around wounded to some degree” as they try and deal with their pain.
“It’s so liberating and essential when someone with Britney’s Reach addresses true and hidden feelings.
That way people can be inspired in the purest way to ask for help – to admit to their struggle – and to feel better,” he concluded.
