In season 2 of The Night Agent, no one can be trusted.

Ahead of the political action-thriller’s return with new episodes in January, Netflix dropped an extended preview of what’s to come for FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) after his efforts to save the president in season 1.

According to the streamer, the young agent is the newest member of the secretive organization, Night Action, which “will propel Peter into a world where danger is everywhere and trust is in short supply.”

As teased in the trailer — which debuted on Christmas Day as part of Netflix’s NFL game day coverage — Peter is fighting for his life in Thailand after purportedly going AWOL following his investigation into a leak in the CIA.

“If Peter’s hiding, he probably has a good reason,” an unseen voice says, prompting a worldwide search for the rogue agent as the action moves from Asia back to the United States, where “a mole selling leaked American intelligence to the highest bidder.”

While trying to discover who is putting the nation in danger, Peter is also learning the ropes of Night Action — and navigating new women in his life, including Amanda Warren as Catherine, the head of the night agent recruit program, and Brittany Snow as Alice, Peter’s superior in Thailand.

“You’re a night agent now, relationships are dangerous,” Alice tells Peter at one point as he realizes it’s all on him to save the day.

“I’m doing this myself,” he says before Catherine pulls a gun on him.

Given all the twists and turns in the trailer, it’s no wonder there is so much hype for season 2, which also welcomes series newcomers Berto Colon as Solomon, Louis Herthum as Jacob and Teddy Sears as Warren.
