A man with a personal connection to the R&B singer D4vd has been taken into custody after failing to appear in court as a witness in the ongoing case surrounding the mysterious death of a teenage girl.

Neo Langston was arrested on an out-of-state warrant on Thursday, January 22. He was initially booked at the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center in Helena, Montana, and was later transferred to the LAPD, according to court records obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle.

As Us Weekly previously reported, a teenage girl named Celeste Rivas went missing in April 2024. Her case was cold for some time until her decomposing body was found in the trunk of a car registered to D4vd, 20 — real name David Anthony Burke — on September 8, 2025. She would have turned 15 years old one day before her body was discovered.

At the time, the singer’s spokesperson said D4vd had “been informed about what’s happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities.”

Later that month, Celeste’s mother said her daughter had a boyfriend named David before she went missing. According to her interview with TMZ, the singer and the teenager also reportedly had matching finger tattoos that read, “Shhhh.” While some have theorized the tattoo could be related to a potential illicit relationship, the meaning behind it is unclear, as similar ink has been popularized by several celebrities.

On September 23, Celeste’s body was released to her family and further information was released regarding her death.

“We know that the Tesla had been parked at the location from which it was towed for several weeks,” LAPD Captain and Commanding Officer Scot M. Williams told People at the time. “So it is very likely Celeste Rivas Hernandez had been dead for several weeks prior to her body being discovered.”

Following the discovery of Celeste’s body, a GoFundMe was launched to help her family during this difficult time.

“As many of you know, Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the body found last week. She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss. Any funds you are able to donate are greatly appreciated,” the fundraiser summary read.

As of this publication, they received more than $24,000 in donations.

D4vd was not officially named a suspect in the case until November 2025.

While singer D4vd has been releasing music since 2021, he recently raised eyebrows after a dead body was found in a car registered in his name. Us Weekly confirmed in September 2025 that possible human remains were found in a Tesla vehicle parked in a California tow yard and registered to D4vd (real name David [

That same month, the LAPD released a statement attempting to “dispel some misinformation” about the case that had been circulating online, including that her body was neither “frozen” nor had it been “decapitated.”

“We have evidence that D4vd travelled to the Santa Barbara area sometime during the Spring of 2025. The reason for that trip is still under investigation, and we’ve drawn no conclusions at this point about the relevance of the trip to this case,” the statement continued.

The LAPD also explained that the court order to seal the records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s investigation into Celeste Rivas’ death “was sought only to ensure detectives from Robbery-Homicide Division learned of important information surrounding her death before the media and the public” and not to “undermine transparency.”

D4vd has not been arrested in connection with the case.
