Kyren Lacy, a former wide receiver at LSU and potential 2025 NFL draft pick, is facing felony charges stemming from a Dec. 17 car crash that killed a former marine.
According to ESPN and WAFB, Louisiana State Police issued a warrant for the former Tigers player, 24, stemming from a car crash on Dec. 17, that killed a 78-year-old man, identified as Herman Hall of Thibodaux, La.
Lacy is accused of causing the crash and then fleeing the scene without rendering aid or calling authorities, per ESPN, and is being charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run and reckless operation of a vehicle.
Police said Lacy was allegedly driving a 2023 Dodge Charger around 10 a.m. on Dec. 17, when he ârecklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated no-passing zone,â per WAFB.
The football player was allegedly âillegally passing the other vehiclesâ on Louisiana Highway 20 when a northbound pickup truck âabruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a collisionâ with Lacyâs Dodge Charger, Louisiana State Police said in a news release.
According to policeâs statement to ESPN, a 2017 Kia Cadenza was behind the pickup truck. The driver of that vehicle reportedly âswerved left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Chargerâ that Lacy was driving when it âcrossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento.â
Hall was a passenger in the Kia Sorento traveling southbound, per WAFB. The 78-year-old former Marine later died from injuries sustained during the accident.
Following the collision, Lacy allegedly drove away, fleeing the scene âwithout stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash,â police said.

âTroopers are in communication with Lacy and his legal representation to turn himself in,â police said.
Two days after the crash, Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft in a statement on social media.
âLSU has truly made a big impact on my life on and off the field, these past 3 years,â Lacy wrote in the announcement.
âNot too many people get to fulfill a dream like this. I am forever grateful for it,â he continued, thanking his coaches, support staff and trainers for âhelping develop me as a football player, but most importantly as a person.â
Lacy promised to âtake all of those life lessonsâ with him âin the next chapter of my life.â
He had 58 catches for 866 yards and nine touchdowns this past season. Lacy played two seasons at Louisiana before transferring to LSU in 2022.
