The 2026 Golden Globes were literally on fire.
During the awards show hosted by Nikki Glaser at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday night, chaos unfolded when a fire broke out backstage in the press room.
The Hollywood Reporterâs Chris Gardner shared a clip on X of the moment, which was caused by someone from the catering team who accidentally knocked over a lit sterno.
âCrisis averted inside #GoldenGlobes backstage press room as catering knocked over a coffee holder and the sterno underneath was lit,â Gardner wrote.
âFor a brief moment, the carpet was on fire and smoke wafted up around the curtains,â the journalist added. âThey put it out quickly fortunately. Yikes!â
Page Six has reached out to the Golden Globes for comment.
The 83rd Golden Globe Awards honored the best in film and television in 2025.
Some of the nightâs biggest winners included TimothĂ©e Chalamet for âMarty Supreme,â Teyana Taylor for âOne Battle After Another,â Wagner Moura for âThe Secret Agent,â Noah Wyle for âThe Pitt,â Seth Rogen for âThe Studioâ and Jean Smart for âHacks.â
Glaser, 41, emceed the show for the second year in a row and delivered an epic monologue where she roasted the star-studded crowd.
One of Glaserâs earliest â and most daring â jokes had to do with the late Jeffrey Epstein and his ties to the celebrity world.
âI cannot believe the amount of star power we have in this room tonight, itâs insane. Thereâs so many A-listers ⊠and by âA-listersâ I do mean people who are on a list that has been heavily redacted,ââ the comedian quipped.
âYes, and the Golden Globe for best editing goes to ⊠the Justice Department. Yes, congratulations,â Glaser added to a roaring crowd.
She also roasted best actor nominee Leonardo DiCaprio for dating younger women.
âYouâve worked with every great director. Youâve won three Golden Globes, an Oscar,â she told DiCaprio, 51. âThe most impressive thing is that youâve been able to accomplish all of this before your girlfriend turned 30. Itâs just insane.â
DiCaprio took the joke in stride, laughing along with the rest of the audience.
The comedian also took aim at TimothĂ©e Chalamet, as she said of his role in âMarty Supreme,â âTimothĂ©e Chalamet is the first actor in history to have to put on muscle for a movie about ping pong. He gained over 60 ounces. Itâs insane.â
Shortly before the Golden Globes, Glaser revealed that she practiced her opening monologue a whopping 93 times.
âWeâre constantly making edits, trying to top jokes, trying to just strike the right note and tone for the evening,â she said in an interview with E! on the red carpet.
âBut a lot of work has gone into it,â she added. âI really think I might go a little wild, because Iâm so cozy with it.â
