Rebecca Gayheart is reminiscing on her life with husband Eric Dane, two days after the actor tragically died.
The actress posted a series of images to her Instagram Stories on Saturday, showcasing her life with Dane, who passed away on Thursday at age 53 following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and their daughters, Billie, 15, and Georgia, 14.
One shot featured the foursome celebrating Daneâs birthday as he blew out candles on a cake.
Follow up pictures included a throwback shot of Dane smiling as he laid on the bed with his daughters, going tubing with the girls, and enjoying an ice cream outing alongside Gayheart, 54.
Several other photos shared saw Dane with Billie and Georgia throughout their lives. One snap in particular was an image of Dane and a pregnant Gayheart at a pumpkin patch with Georgia.
The âBeverly Hills, 90210â alum also posted a link to a GoFundMe set up by friends.
Gayheart simply wrote, âThank you to everyone.â
The GoFundMe account states that the beloved star left âbehind his devoted wife, Rebecca, and his two teenage daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.â
âFollowing his diagnosis, even as his own health declined, he remained deeply committed to helping others facing the same devastating disease,â they continued.
âAs his illness progressed far more quickly than anyone could have imagined, Ericâs friends have come together to create this GoFundMe to support his girls and their future needs.â
Dane and Gayheart, meanwhile, wed in 2004 and after 13 years of marriage, the âJawbreakerâ star filed for divorce in 2018.
Last March, however, the former flames called off their divorce after seven years of separation. One month later, the âEuphoriaâ actor went public with his ALS diagnosis.
Over the past ten months, both Gayheart and Dane have opened up about their âcomplicatedâ relationship.
In a Dec. 29 essay for the Cut, titled âIn Sickness and in Health,â Gayheart shared that Dane âmade it very clear that he wants to spend time with his family as much as possible, and I am committed to facilitating that.â
She said she wanted to âdo my best to do right by him. And I know he would do the same for me.â
âSo whatever I can do or however I can show up to make this journey better for him or easier for him, I want to do that,â Gayheart told readers at the time. âAnd I want to model that for my girls:Â âThatâs what you do. Thatâs the right thing to do.ââ
âThis year, the girls and I have spent a lot of time at Ericâs house, which is about a 12-minute drive away from our home,â she reflected. âWe have a lot of meals together. We do a lot of drop-by visits â well, I donât just drop by. I always call and say, âIâm coming up the hillâ or âIâm dropping Georgia off.ââ
Additionally, Gayheart stepped in for Daneâs â24/7 nursesâ during âtimes that shifts arenât covered.â
The âUrban Legendâ star also explained that her and Dane have âa very complicated relationship, one thatâs confusing for people. Our love may not be romantic, but itâs a familial love.â
Gayheart also clarified that she and Dane âhavenât lived in the same home for eight years.â
She noted that âheâs dated other people, [and she has] dated someone,â referring to her 78-year-old billionaire boyfriend Peter Morton, since filing.
In June, Dane got candid about his bond with Gayheart, telling Diane Sawyer that they speak daily.
âWe have managed to become better friends and better parents,â he reflected. âAnd she is probably my biggest champion, my most stalwart supporter, and I lean on her.â
