Eric Dane canceled his appearance at an ALS event on Saturday just hours before due to complications with his disease.
The actor â whoâs been open about his battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) â was scheduled to attend the ALS Networkâs Champions for Cures and Care Gala to receive the Advocate of the Year award, but pulled out due to health issues.
Dane canceled âdue to the physical realities of ALSâ and not being âwell enough to attend,â the ALS Network confirmed to People.
âWe remain deeply grateful for his courage, advocacy and continued commitment to the ALS community, and we honor him fully this evening with our profound respect and support,â the organization said in a statement.
Reps for Dane and ALS Network didnât immediately respond to Page Sixâs request for comment.
The âGreyâs Anatomyâ alum, 53, revealed his ALS diagnosis in April 2025.
Back in September, he was spotted in a wheelchair at an airport in Washington, DC, and shared an inspiring message for fans who were concerned about him.
âKeep the faith, man,â Dane replied in a stilted voice in footage obtained by the Daily Mail.
The âEuphoriaâ star also responded âthank you, brother,â when he was told that the country was wishing him the best.
Earlier that month, Dane appeared in a campaign video for the I AM ALS organization to promote accelerating research for the neurodegenerative disease.
During the clip, he spoke slowly and occasionally slurred his words. His arms also appeared to twitch uncontrollably at times.
Despite his diseaseâs progression, the father of two has said he has no plans to stop acting.
During a panel discussion put on by I Am ALS and âBrilliant Mindsâ last month, he share that heâll take on âALS-centricâ roles in the future because he is âfairly limited in what [he] can do physically.â
âI still have my brain, and I still have my speech,â he said, noting that he was âwilling to do just about anything.â
