Emman Atienza, TikTok star and model, dead by suicide at 19

TikTok star Emman Atienza died Wednesday at her home in Los Angeles. She was 19.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed her cause of death as suicide, per Deadline. The outlet reported that Emman had moved to LA from her native Philippines over the summer with her family.

Her parents, Filipino TV personality Kim Atienza and Felicia Atienza, a celebrity entrepreneur and fitness guru, also confirmed the tragic news via Instagram Friday.

“It’s with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of our daughter and sister, Emman. She brought so much joy, laughter, and love into our lives and into the lives of everyone who knew her,” they shared in a statement.

“Emman had a way of making people feel seen and heard, and she wasn’t afraid to share her own journey with mental health. Her authenticity helped so many feel less alone,” they continued.

“To honor Emman’s memory, we hope you carry forward the qualities she lived by: compassion, courage, and a little extra kindness in your everyday life.”

The post was also signed by Emman’s siblings, Jose and Eliana.

Many fans, alongside Filipino celebrities and influencers, flooded the comments section of the post with messages of condolences.

“Sending my deepest condolences… 🤍 huge fan of your daughters here! I would always watch Eman’s TikTok videos whenever I felt a bit down…she had such a light and easy energy about her,” one user wrote.

“She was the nicest person to me and I’m sure to many other people, my condolences to her family may she rest in peace 🙏truly a blessed soul 🕊️🤍,” another added.

Emman had over 875,000 followers on TikTok and another 225,000 on Instagram. She was known for her lifestyle and fashion content.

In many of her videos, Emman also talked about mental health issues and pushed back against conservative values in the Philippines, even facing backlash for it at times.

Since her passing, her comment sections have been filled with messages from fans devastated that she might have fallen victim to cyberbullying.

“We really dunno what’s going on to someone’s life behind the camera, so be kind. 🥺 RIP Emman. 🕊️🙏,” one heartbroken fan urged.

“You never know what someone’s been through — always be kind,” another added.
