Eminem’s daughter Hailie Jade McClintock is addressing the idea that “boy moms” are “toxic” after the Beckham family feud continues to make waves.
In the Friday, January 23 episode of her podcast, “Just a Little Shady,” Hailie weighed in on “boy mom rhetoric” after recapping how Brooklyn Beckham took aim at his family – with a particular emphasis on his mom Victoria – in a scathing Instagram post.
“I don’t know. I kind of can see both sides in this, but I think people just really do believe that boy moms are toxic,” Hailie, 30, said after recapping the details of the bad blood that Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham have with the rest of the Beckham family, including his famous parents Victoria and David.
Hailie, who shares a 10-month-old son with husband Sean McClintock, added, “I have no say, I hope I don’t fall into that [toxic boy mom] category.”
While declining to take sides in the feud, the podcaster said she could understand why Brooklyn, 26, supporters may believe Posh Spice had a negative “boy mom” dynamic with her son.
“I could see, too, why people would believe that with her because she has been under public scrutiny since, what, 1995? Like, this has been going on a long time. Literally our entire lives,” she said. “So people already have this perception of her and then being like, ‘Well she’s insecure and she’s this and she’s that’ and then being like, ‘Oh, well it fits that mold of putting that on to her sons and wanting her sons to be that.’”
Hailie noted that while Brooklyn is at odds with Victoria and David, it does not appear to be the case with his brothers. (Victoria and David are also parents to sons Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 14.)
“Her other two sons, though, have been supportive of her in the situation,” Hailie explained. “So then people are like, ‘Okay, if there’s five people who are saying like, “No, this is the truth” and one that’s not, maybe there is something going on.’ I don’t know. I guess we’ll find out.”
After years of unconfirmed whispers about Brooklyn and Nicola’s fractured relationship with Victoria and David, the hot sauce entrepreneur confirmed the animosity via an Instagram post shared on Monday, January 19.
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed,” Brooklyn wrote.
He continued, “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
In the lengthy statement, Brooklyn accused his parents of trying to “ruin” his marriage to Nicola and pointed the finger at Victoria specifically for several alleged incidents that exacerbated tensions.
“The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of the innocent people, to preserve their own facade,” he claimed. “But I believe the truth always comes out.”
He continued, “My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped. My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.”
None of the Beckhams have officially commented on Brooklyn’s statement. However, David did speak to CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Tuesday, January 20, about the use of social media more broadly.
David commented that he tried to educate his children about the online world.
“Children are allowed to make mistakes, that’s how they learn. So that’s what I try to teach my kids,” he said. “But you know, you have to sometimes let them make those mistakes as well.”
