Avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan Elizabeth Olsen couldn’t cheer as aggressively as she wanted to for her favorite team during the World Series — because she’d just had a medical procedure done.

“The characters on the Dodgers are so lovable,” the Marvel Cinematic Universe alum, 36, shared on the Thursday, March 20, episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

“I had the worst time when I was watching the World Series ’cause your team was so good,” Fallon, a New York Yankees fan, told Olsen of the Fall Classic, where the Dodgers beat the Yankees 4-1.

“I had just had a laparoscopy procedure,” The Assessment star said, gesturing to her midsection before adding a reassuring, “I’m fine. But I had that. And I was so bummed because it was in the middle of the World Series, and I’m a very aggressive cheerer at home, and I was so sad that I wasn’t gonna be able to do my normal, you know, jumping out of the sofa thing.”

A laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgery and involves inserting a thin tube with a video camera at the end through a small surgical opening in the abdomen, Johns Hopkins Medicine explains. Although Olsen didn’t elaborate on why she had the procedure, it can be used to examine pelvic or abdominal organs, take biopsies or treat some illnesses.

Following the procedure, abdominal pain is possible, and “you may be told to limit your physical activity for a few days” — and for Olsen, that included aggressively cheering.

Fortunately for the die-hard fan, the series went on long enough for her to resume her usually enthusiastic support.

“I was just able to cheer by the time we got to the final game,” she said.

Fallon shared a photo of Olsen and her husband, Robbie Arnett, sitting on her couch; she’s clad in a white bathrobe — embroidered with “Go Dodgers” —  and he’s wearing a team cap and shirt. Describing the picture, Olsen admitted, “That’s not all of our merchandise.”

“I love that you’re so into it,” Fallon said.

“I’m so into Dodger season,” she replied, prompting him to correct her: “Baseball season.”
