Elisabeth Hasselbeck is sharing the inspiring story behind her latest children’s book.
On March 26, the TV personality, 47, joined co-anchor Lara Spencer on Good Morning America to discuss her new kids book God’s Masterpiece: An Adventure in Discovering Your Worth. The book, published on March 25 by WaterBrook, is aimed toward readers ages 3 to 7.
God’s Masterpiece follows two children as they walk through an art museum and learn about famous pieces by artists like Georgia O’Keeffe and Claude Monet. Per the book’s synopsis, the children see how the artwork “reflects the artist’s God-given creativity,” and on the last page, are greeted with an inset mirror to view themselves as “God’s masterpiece.”
Hasselbeck, who studied art in college, noted that she wanted to create a book where young readers could learn about their intrinsic value.

“When our kids are under a lot of pressure [with] tons of comparison, I do think identity is under threat,” the bestselling author said. “We don’t get to say who we are, we have a God that determines that, and we’re all still works in progress.”
“I think if we can see each other as His amazing, unique masterpieces, differently, wildly beautifully made [in] His workmanship, then we treat each other that way too. Not just ‘Oh, I’m a masterpiece, but guess what, you’re a masterpiece too. And you’re a masterpiece out there.’ We get to look at each other and treat each other as valuable, high worth creations.”
Hasselbeck, who shares three children with husband Tim, also spoke about her family’s experience as interim foster care providers. Interim foster care places infants in temporary housing after birth while they wait for a permanent solution, such as adoption or reunification with their biological family.
“I didn’t know it was possible until I saw an amazing friend of mine doing it so naturally and wonderfully and she showed me the ropes,” Hasselbeck said.

“I asked [Tim] if we should be doing this, and God put it on our hearts, and it’s been four years of just welcoming little ones in, who really do more for our hearts than we ever do for theirs.”
In addition to God’s Masterpiece, Hasselbeck is also the author of the children’s book Flashlight Night: An Adventure in Trusting God, as well as the nonfiction book Point of View: A Fresh Look at Work, Faith, and Freedom. She’s also written cookbooks, including the gluten-free guide Deliciously G-Free.
