EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Why is Rita Ora’s scanty style in Vogue?

Vogue is meant to celebrate the best of British style, but its outgoing editor, Edward Enninful, left some of the stars who attended the magazine’s summer party looking cheap.

The jamboree, at Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone, London, was held in conjunction with designer label Self-Portrait, and pop singer Rita Ora and model Emily Ratajkowski agreed to wear its dresses.

While Ratajkowski, 32, was sultry in a black cut-out dress, Ora, also 32, looked like she’d forgotten to put on a frock thanks to her see -through outfit that displayed her underwear.

Ora has said she loves ‘playing with fashion’, once remarking: ‘My outfit always has to express my current mood and my personality.’

London-based brand Self-Portrait was much talked about when the Duchess of Sussex wore its elegant red dress in 2018 during her first foreign tour following her marriage to Prince Harry.

Now, it seems that it’s being talked about for the wrong reasons .

(Very) modern manners…

Photographs of famous figures working out at the gym were once deemed so intrusive that Princess Diana sued a red-top newspaper that published images of her exercising in a leotard at the LA Fitness club in West London.

Now, however, King Charles’s goddaughter, Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark, has shared pictures of herself demonstrating her flexibility at a workout studio in the capital.

The 26-year-old is seen performing a gruelling jack-knife Pilates move.

Tipped to succeed Huw Edwards if the troubled BBC star doesn’t return to News At Ten, Clive Myrie is more interested in light entertainment. I hear that the Mastermind host, 58, is planning to make a second travel series following the success of his hit BBC show, Clive Myrie’s Italian Road Trip.

Myrie is staying tight-lipped for now about the location, but chuckles: ‘Alan Whicker here I come.’

Sex Pistol star has Rotten time with intruding stalker

Sex Pistols star John Lydon has spoken of his horror at being the victim of an intruder at his home in California.

‘I’m currently struggling with a stalker who’s letting themselves into my yard at night,’ he says. ‘She’s in her 50s and claims she’s my daughter.’

The punk pioneer, 67, also known as Johnny Rotten, adds: ‘I’ve had to deal with stalkers all my life and it’s horrific. It causes terrible stress. It’s the uncaring selfishness I find really upsetting.’

Lydon reported the stalker to the police.

It’s been a difficult year for the singer, whose wife of almost five decades died in April at the age of 80 after suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for five years.

He was a full-time carer for Nora Forster, whom he previously said he ‘always loved’ and couldn’t live without.

Having caused mayhem in a Mini as Mr Bean, and wreaking havoc in an Aston Martin as Johnny English in the spoof spy films, Rowan Atkinson got behind the wheel of a hydrogen-powered GR Yaris at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in West Sussex.

The actor and comedian, 68, is doubtful, though, that electric vehicles will ever match the noisy thrill of Formula 1 motors. ‘Pure electric racing cars are tricky as they do sound like a washing machine moving onto spin cycle,’ he says. ‘A lot of people are trying to retain the emotion which a piston-engine car can give you.’

Ship-shape dream for Charles’ old boat

Tony Blair retired the Royal Yacht Britannia, much to the distress of Queen Elizabeth II. Now, King Charles is said to have expressed a keen interest in saving another royal ship.

The King commanded HMS Bronington, a minesweeper, in 1976 during his time in the Royal Navy. And a campaign has been launched to salvage and restore the 70-year-old warship, which has been offered a spot at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The HMS Bronington Preservation Trust is hoping to raise £1 million to restore the ship, which partially sank at its mooring in Birkenhead, and turn it into a museum.

Trustee director Mike McBride says the King is monitoring the scheme’s progress, adding: ‘Everything is in place to rescue HMS Bronington if we can get the funding.’

The smart set’s talking about… Poshstock chatelaine weds again

She became the second wife of Robin Cayzer, Lord Rotherwick, in 2000 and chatelaine of his Oxfordshire family seat, Cornbury House, which is set in 5,000 acres.

The estate is the setting for Wilderness Festival, a favourite of David and Samantha Cameron and the Chipping Norton set, which is known as ‘Poshtock’.

But, I hear, Tania Rotherwick has conclusively bidden farewell to all that. She has married Canadian financier — and Olympic gold medallist — Mark Evans, 65, following her split from Lord Rotherwick. ‘She’s delighted to be plain Mrs Evans,’ says a chum, adding that the couple, who live inconspicuously in Oxford, opted for a low-key wedding — Tania’s third.

‘It was very private, register office, just family,’ adds the friend, explaining that even her sister Diana and her husband, the former Bank of England governor Mark Carney, were unable to make it.

The news may induce a sigh of longing from Prince Andrew. ‘He was besotted with Tania after she divorced [first husband] James Thornton,’ says the pal, explaining that Tania once invited him to a dinner party after she’d parted from Thornton. Alas, her attention was drawn elsewhere.
