The Duchess of Edinburgh teamed up with former Strictly Come Dancing contestants Ellie Goldstein and Vito Coppola to host a tea and cake collaboration with Mencap at St James’ Palace, London, earlier this week.
Mencap is a charity that works with people with learning disabilities, of which the Duchess has been Patron since 2004. Aaron Chown, Chief Royal Photographer at the Press Association, shared a delightful carousel of pictures of the event on his Instagram page.
Sophie showcased her sartorial style ethos by donning a beautiful red dress by one of her favourite high-end brands, Beulah London. The royal stepped out in the ‘Yahvi’ style in a deep ruby red and teamed it with Jimmy Choo ’80’ pumps in ‘Garnet’. Prince Edward’s wife sported a sleek and straight hairstyle and added diamond drop earrings.
Sophie’s royal rewear
The ‘Yahvi’ dress is a regular fixture in her wardrobe. It features fluted sleeves, a fitted waistline and a modest round neck. Timeless in cut, it works for countless engagements, which is why the royal owns the same design in four other shades.
Yellow
In 2025, Sophie was a vision in her butter yellow dress when she visited a dementia research laboratory in Edinburgh.
The then 60-year-old brought the sunshine in the cheerful design, which blended dopamine dressing with tailored elegance.
Baby blue
Also in 2025, for the VE Day celebrations, Sophie brought out a pale blue version of the dress, accessorising with a beautiful hat of the same colour from Jane Taylor, as well as a pair of baby blue heels, a dark blue clutch and a long silver-toned diamond necklace with a double-scroll gold and diamond pendant from Collins & Sons.
Bridal white
Looking like the epitome of elegance in angelic white for a reception for the newly-elected members of Parliament and members of the House of Lords in 2025, Sophie was pictured chatting to Nigel Farage in the ‘Yahvi’ once again.
The fitted bodice with long trumpet sleeves gave her a glamorous stance.
Coral
In 2024, Sophie wore the same design, turning heads when she visited Abbey Road Studios in London.
The royal was seen walking over the iconic crossing in the coral version of the thigh-split dress, wearing Prada high heels and a snakeskin clutch.
