Drew Scott and his wife Linda Phanâs Christmas spirit nearly came crashing down.
In a new video tour of his L.A. home elaborately decorated for the holidays shared on Drew and his twin brother Jonathan Scottâs website, Drew revealed the moment in which he almost got decked instead of his halls.
In the footage, he can be seen with his feet sticking out from under the tree as it starts to teeter over. Linda jumps into action, giving the tree a full-body hug to prevent it from collapsing on Drew.
âI took the stand, and I was rotating the tree, and it just collapsed on itself,â he shared. âThankfully, Linda saved my life.â
Crisis averted, the Property Brothers star also showed off his handmade ornaments, classic Christmas movie projections and even a miniature holiday train perfect for the coupleâs two young children, Parker and Piper. On the brothersâ website, the two HGTV hosts share more holiday decorating tips for their fans.
The tour begins in the coupleâs front entryway, where pink and green pastel ribbon bows adorn a banister leading upstairs.
âEvery year, we add a little something, or we just try to change a little something,â Drew says. âThis year, we wanted to simplify a little bit, so instead of having the thick green garland with pinecones and everything else coming up the railing, we went with these ribbons â a little classier.â
Ribbons are a motif throughout the house, an idea that Drew credits Linda with coming up with.
âLinda is the ribbon queen,â Drew says of his wife, who can be seen in the video draping bows over the coupleâs Christmas tree.
âAs in, I just found a ton of scrap ribbon, and itâs going on the tree,â Linda jokes.
The coupleâs tree is a homemade winter wonderland, Drew shares, pointing out ornaments from their kids and snowflakes that the couple made themselves to fill in the tree. Drew makes sure to decorate around with non-breakable ornaments for when little kids are underfoot.
âFor the record, Jonathan has so many breakable ornaments and decor pieces around his house. With little ones, I like to ensure that I have more wood products or even if itâs a ball on the tree, itâs something that, if it falls, it bounces,â Drew says, dropping an ornament to show that itâs shatterproof.
Drew also shared a surprising tree decorating hack.
âIâm going to tell you a dirty little secret that I donât think Linda wants me to tell you,â Drew stage whispers to the camera. âThere are no ornaments on the backside of the tree. We ran short!â
Linda overhears and likens the tree to wearing âa hospital gown,â covered in the front and bare in the back.
Also in the living room is the coupleâs âpiĂšce de rĂ©sistance,â as Drew calls it. A miniature holiday train runs on hanging tracks around the roomâs ceiling, suspended so that they are visible from people below.
âParker loves trains,â Drew says. âWe figured this year we would do a little track. Linda brought it up as an amazing idea that she thought would never come to fruition, and I thought, âWe have to make this happen,â especially for Parker⊠and to show Linda that I can follow through and get something done.â
The outside of the coupleâs house is just as nostalgic and festive as the inside.
âGrowing up, our parents always went all out,â Drew shares. âWe decorated the house, we would put up the lights with our dad. It wasnât quite to the Griswold level that I have now, but I think even Chevy Chase would be proud of me.â
The lights on the outside of the house are smart lights, meaning that the couple put them up around Halloween and then just changed the colors using a remote to match the Christmas theme.
But, perhaps even more fun than the elaborate lights is the projector that Drew has set up to play the classic 1964 claymation version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer on the front of the house.
âThis is one of my favorites from when I was a kid,â Drew shares. âAnd neighbors stop by non-stop, taking pictures and videos of the home because I think it brings them back to their childhood too.â
âI love that once that lights go on and the projection goes on, we have neighbors specifically coming to this street to see our house, and thatâs kind of fun,â he says.
Drew and Linda first met at Toronto Fashion Week in 2010. They married in a stunning ceremony in Italy in May 2018 and welcomed their first child, son Parker, 2, four years later. In January 2024, they announced they were expecting again on Instagram and welcomed their baby girl, Piper, now 5-months-old, in May.
