Drew Barrymore insisted Martha Stewart was only joking when she pushed her away for being too touchy during an interview.
Andy Cohen asked the â50 First Datesâ star, 49, about last yearâs viral moment with the lifestyle maven, 83, when she appeared on âWatch What Happens Liveâ Wednesday.
âYou know what? I think she was just teasing,â Barrymore said, to which the Bravo host agreed.
The actress explained that she has come to the understanding that Stewart âreally does likeâ her.
âI think the internet just misunderstood the moment and ran with it, because when I first was getting to know her, I was like, I donât think she likes me, but I think I broke through. She doesnât dislike me!â she added.
The awkward interaction first made headlines in November 2024 when the cookbook author appeared on âThe Drew Barrymore Show.â
The pair were talking about what makes Stewart feel âsoft and gooeyâ on the inside while Barrymore caressed her back and arm.
However, the former âMartha Stewart Showâ host quickly pushed the âE.T.â child star away from her and quipped, âYouâre the wrong gender.â
Barrymore playfully fell back on the couch and replied, âI know ⊠although, the way itâs going with men, though, Martha, Iâm not so sure anymore.â
The âNever Been Kissedâ star was previously called out for being âcringeyâ by holding Oprah Winfreyâs hand and stroking her arm during a December 2023 interview.
However, Barrymore has become known for her touchy interview style on her talk show.
Cohen asked the Golden Globe winner Wednesday whether there was a reason she sat âpupil to pupilâ with her guests, to which she admitted she is not totally sure why she does it.
âI canât actually control it,â she said. âI got focus-grouped when we launched, and it was not good. It was awful.â
Barrymore previously confessed that people have warned her to be less touchy, but she has not taken their advice.
âIâm so touchy!â she acknowledged in a December 2024 of her eponymous talk show. âPeople have to warn me. Theyâre like, âBack off a little bit.â Iâm like, âWhy?ââ
