Drake will be out of the country when his nemesis Kendrick Lamar performs during the Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday evening.
The âGodâs Planâ rapper has a performance of his own that day, as his Anita Max Win Tour begins the first of four concerts in Melbourne, Australia.
Just days after Lamar took home five Grammys for his âNot Like Usâ diss track aimed at the OVO hitmaker, Drake, 38, kicked off his new tour in Perth, Australia, on Tuesday. Heâll be on tour in Australia through March 16.
Drake closed the opening show by assuring his fans that he was âstill alive,â according to video taken by fans in the audience. Many believed his opening remarks could have been a response to his ongoing feud with Lamar.
âMy name is Drake. I started in 2008, I came all the way from Toronto, Canada. The year is now 2025, and Drizzy Drake is very much still alive,â the rapper said.
The âPassionfruitâ artist also wore a black hoodie decorated with bullet holes for the performance to drive the point home.
And speaking of headline-making fashion choices â while accepting his Grammys on Feb. 2, Lamar, 37, seemingly threw another jab at the Toronto native by donning a Canadian tuxedo.
In one of his acceptance speeches, the âGood Kid M.A.A.D. Cityâ rapper dedicated his Grammy award to his hometown of Los Angeles after the city experienced a string of wildfires last month.
âThis is my neck of the woods that held me down since a young pup ⌠since I was in the studio scrapping to write the best raps and all that you know in order to do records like these,â he said on stage.
âI canât give enough thanks you know to these places I rolled around since high school. You know most importantly, the people and families out in the Palisades and Altadena.â
âThis is a true test that we are going to continue to restore this city.â
Drake and Lamarâs rap feud dates all the way back to 2013 when Lamar first took aim at the âDegrassiâ alum on Big Seanâs âControl.â The beef was reignited last summer when the two artists exchanged diss records. The skirmish seemingly ended with Lamar accusing Drake of being a âpedophileâ in his Grammy-winning single.
