Dolly Parton shared an unexpected update with fans on Thursday, revealing that a childrenâs hospital located in East Tennessee would be named in her honor. âIâve always believed that every child deserves a fair chance to grow up healthy, hopeful and surrounded with love. That belief is what brought me together with the incredible folks at East Tennessee Childrenâs Hospital,â she began in her message.Â
âFor nearly 90 years, their teams have provided compassionate and talented care. They see children not just as patients, but as precious lives. Each with a story and a future,â Dolly continued.Â

The country superstar never had children of her own, yet is a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews. She shared with Saga magazine that one of the reasons why she never welcomed kids with her late husband, Carl Dean, was due to her intense performance schedule.Â
âWhen youâre a young couple, you think youâre going to have kids, but it just wasnât one of those burning things for me,â she said. âI had my career and my music, and I was travelling. If Iâd had kids, Iâd have stayed at home with them. Iâm sure and worried myself to death about them.âÂ
âI always say God didnât let me have children so that all kids could be mine,â she added.Â
