Itâs nearly Halloween for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis!
Prince William and Kate Middletonâs children are currently enjoying their fall school break from Lambrook, giving the family extra time to make memories this season. The trio will also be out of school on a kid-favorite holiday â Halloween.
While Great British Mag reports that trick-or-treating is not as popular in the U.K. as it is in the United States (according to the U.S. Census Bureau, about 72 million kids in America knock on doors for candy annually), Princess Kate has previously taken Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, trick-or-treating.
A photo published by Hello! in 2023 captured the royal mom standing by a neighborâs gate in London with her children, joining in the classic Halloween tradition. Although the picture was taken from afar, making it hard to tell what costumes the kids wore, Princess Kate was seen holding a bag â perhaps to collect all their Halloween treats!
âFor anyone doubting how down to earth William and Kate are ⊠This is Kate with their kids knocking on our door in London trick-or-treating at Halloween,â neighbor Jay Rutland wrote over the photo, Hello! reported. Rutland is married to British heiress Tamara Ecclestone, and the couple resides in the same area as Kensington Palace, where William and Kate were previously based fulltime.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, both 42, made a major move to Windsor in 2022, where they settled into Adelaide Cottage and enrolled their kids at Lambrook. The new chapter was full of firsts, from the first time living separately from nanny Maria Turrion Borrallo and the first time George, Charlotte and Louis all attended the same school.
A palace insider previously told PEOPLE that Prince William loves the ânormalâ routine Princess Kate keeps up for their kids, which stems from a larger philosophy to make their childhoods as normal as possible.
âThose children look pretty happy with life,â the insider said. âA lot of it is the stabilizing normality Kate brings â and thatâs how she grew up. William absolutely loves it.â
An appreciation for trick-or-treating also seems to be a Middleton family tradition. Princess Kateâs mom, Carole Middleton, previously spoke about her favorite part of the season on social media
âHalloween is an Autumn highlight for me,â Carole wrote on the Instagram account for Party Pieces in 2022, the year before she sold the party supply business she started. âI can still remember the fun and frights from my own childhood; the chance to dress up, decorate pumpkins and go trick-or-treating!â
Sharing the sweet way she planned to celebrate that year, she continued, âIâve even grown my own pumpkins this year, so Iâm looking forward to decorating those with my loved ones.â

While George, Charlotte and Louis are growing up royal, their Halloween costumes might be just like everyone elseâs. In 2019, Princess Kate was spotted in a Norfolk supermarket shopping for Halloween costumes with her two eldest children. Local Kathy Whittaker spotted the royal mom browsing the holiday section.
âI didnât see what she actually bought. The lady that told me she was there had children with her, and she said Kate was asking her children what they were going to be for Halloween,â Whittaker said, according to several U.K. newspapers. âI think she bought some Halloween bits for her kids, but I donât know what.â
Kate shared a rare glimpse into her family life in a Sept. 9 video message that she released to announce that she had completed chemotherapy treatment for cancer. The clip showed Kate and William embracing each other and playing with their young children in the outdoors.
âThe last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown,â Kate said in the video message.
âThis time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved,â she added.
