Demi Moore is sharing an update on Bruce Willisâ health.
On Sunday, Oct. 13, The Substance actress was honored with the Career Achievement in Acting Award at the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival. During a wide-ranging live discussion, which was moderated by HIFF Advisory Board member Alina Cho, the 61-year-old actress said that her ex-husband, 69, is âstableâ amid his frontotemporal dementia (FTD) diagnosis.
Moore also detailed her personal outlook on the disease, which Bruceâs wife Emma Heming Willis revealed he was diagnosed with last year following his spring 2022 diagnosis of aphasia.
âYou know, Iâve said this before. The disease is what the disease is. And I think you have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is,â Moore told the festival audience. âBut for where heâs at, he is stable.â
âWhat I always encourage is to just meet them where theyâre at. When youâre holding on to what was, I think itâs a losing game,â she added of the Die Hard star. âBut when you show up to meet them where theyâre at, there is great beauty and sweetness.â
As Moore explained, she was just visiting Bruce âtwo days agoâ with her granddaughter, daughter Rumerâs toddler, Louetta. âAnd being able to share with whatever we have, for however long we have it,â she said of spending time with her ex-husband.
Moore shares daughters Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30, with Bruce. She previously said on The Drew Barrymore Show last month that âgiven the givens, [Bruce] is in a stable place.â
Elsewhere during the discussion at the film festival â during which Moore reflected on multiple career highlights including 1990âs Ghost, 1993âs Indecent Proposal and 1997âs G.I. Jane â she touched on what it meant to her to watch a reel of her films backstage before she was eventually presented with her award.
âI felt like I was watching a lot of life,â she said. âActually feels like lifetimes, because the gift is that we get to keep changing and growing. What I was thinking is, âThank God I kept getting opportunities to get better.â â

Moore also spoke about her latest film, The Substance. In the movie, directed by Coralie Fargeat and also starring Margaret Qualley, Moore portrays character Elisabeth Sparkle, who tries a black market drug to create a younger version of herself. The story explores topics including body image and societal expectations for women and aging.
Last month, in conversation with The Guardian, Moore detailed her relationship with her own body over the years and the âself-judgementâ explored in her latest film.
âWeâve all had moments where you go back and youâre trying to fix something, and youâre just making it worse to the point where youâre incapacitated,â she told the outlet. âWeâre seeing these small things nobody else is looking at, but weâre so hyper-focused on all that weâre not. All of us, if we start to think our value is only with how we look then ultimately weâre going to be crushed.â
The Substance is currently in theaters.
