Kristen Bell got a little behind-the-scenes support at the 2025 SAG Awards!

The actress, who hosted the awards show, had some help getting ready for the big night — with her husband, Dax Shepard, as her makeup artist! Bell shared photos on her Instagram Stories of the comedian joining her backstage, patting powder onto her cheeks.

In the photos, Bell wore her fourth and final outfit of the night — a black sequin gown with a sweetheart neckline and an abstract printed skirt with blue and black beads. Shepard, on the other hand, wore a more casual outfit of jeans, a gray T-shirt and a black baseball cap.

Bell’s other SAG Awards looks included an intricately beaded dress with a tiered tulle skirt for the carpet, as well as two menswear-inspired pantsuits, one white and one black, for the front half of the show. Each of the four looks were by Giorgio Armani Privé.

Ahead of her big night, Bell told PEOPLE that she had “no way to know” if her husband would be there to support her for the night.

“He’s his own man and I support him,” she said. “I don’t know if he’ll even come because to be honest, we don’t have very many babysitters who are ever available and he has to watch the children.”

“Sometimes he’s just like, ‘We have no babysitter, God bless, I hope you do great and have a fun night,'” added Bell, who shares daughters Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9, with Shepard.

The Nobody Wants This star recently opened up to E! News about her 11-year marriage with Shepard and how it’s remained strong all this time. Both are actors, who sometimes have to portray intimate moments with other people for the sake of the project, she said — which is where their “foundational trust” comes in.

“Even if Dax hooks up with the most beautiful person in the world at work, I know he’s committed to our family. I know he’s coming home. I know he loves our children. I know he strives to be a great husband and father,” Bell said.

She added, “Maybe there could be a day where I’m like, ‘I’m actually really nervous that you spend time with that person.’ And he could say, ‘Oh, okay, let’s talk about it. What makes you nervous? What are you thinking?’ We have very open communication.”

In November 2024, Shepard spoke about how he can sense Bell’s periods of depression coming on. On an episode of his Armchair Expert podcast, Shepard shared that it “used to scare” him, but he’s since learned her patterns and how to respond to them when she’s in a “slump.”

The couple met at a dinner party in 2007, and forged a lasting relationship after a four-day breakup that same year. They appeared together on screen in the 2009 film When in Rome, and later that year they got engaged. After welcoming their first child, Lincoln, in 2013 — and after waiting in solidarity for gay marriage to be legalized in California — Shepard and Bell wed in October 2013. They later welcomed a second child, Delta, in December 2014.
