David Beckham sparked fresh conversation about his strained relationship with eldest son Brooklyn Beckham on Friday when he shared a nostalgic Instagram story featuring a box of his football boots, including a pair embroidered with his childrenâs names.
The image, posted to Davidâs Instagram, showed an impressive collection of cleats from across his playing career. Fans quickly noticed that among the boots stitched with the names of his younger children, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, were pairs bearing Brooklynâs name too, a subtle reminder of past family moments and shared pride.
Davidâs post arrives amid widely reported tension between him and Brooklyn, 26, who publicly revealed a rift with his parents earlier this year.Â
In a bitter statement on Instagram, Brooklyn accused his family of interfering in his marriage to actress Nicola Peltz and said he has no intention of reconciling.
The emotional post came shortly after reports that Brooklyn has taken steps that many see as symbolic of the fractured relationship, including covering up a tattoo tribute to his father and other family members.Â
Brooklynâs former âDadâ tattoo, previously inked with affection, was reportedly altered to remove the word âDad,â a move some fans say reflects deep hurt amid the feud.
While the Beckham family have yet to make a statement about their sonâs comments, Nicolâs father Nelson Peltz broke his silence at the WSJDâs Invest Live in West Palm Beach event last week.
âMy daughter and the Beckhams are a whole other story, and thatâs not for coverage here today,â the 83-year-old explained during a Q&A session.Â
âIâll tell you my daughter is great, my son-in-law, Brooklyn, is great, and I look forward to them having a long, happy marriage together.â When asked if he ever gave the young couple advice on navigating tough times, he confirmed: âI do. Sometimes they give me advice.â
Nelson is a founding partner of hedge fund management firm Trian Fund, and also works as the non-executive chairman of Wendyâs Company, Sysco and The Madison Square Garden Company.
The father of eight recently came under the microscope when journalist Marina Hyde claimed that he gave Nicola a $1 million monthly allowance, which was quickly refuted.
âFrom what I hear, I think the Beckhams give Brooklyn a lot of money but not insane money, and they have this dream to some degree that he will stand on his own two feet and become independent,â Marina said on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast.
âMaybe Nelson Peltz would deny this, but I hear that he said to them, âI give my daughter a million dollars a month allowance.'â This claim was quickly denied, as a source told HELLO!: âThis is 100% false. The quote in question has no source because it is not true. It is simply a fabricated rumour made up from thin air.âÂ
Brooklyn and Nicola married in a lavish wedding at Nelsonâs Palm Beach estate in 2022, yet not everything was perfect behind the scenes, as the 26-year-old shared in his Instagram statement in January.
âMy parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasnât stopped,â he wrote. âMy mom cancelled making Nicolaâs dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.â
âMy mom hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song,â Brooklyn claimed. âIn front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife, but instead, my mom was waiting to dance with me instead.â
âShe danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. Iâve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.â Nicola and Brooklyn renewed their vows in August 2025 at the Peltz family estate in Bedford, Westchester County, New York.
