Former Dancing With the Stars troupe member Stephani Sosa has shared her history with controversial weight loss medication Ozempic.
“People have been asking me if I’m on Ozempic, [and] I was on Ozempic when I was doing Dancing With the Stars last season,” Sosa, 26, said in a Saturday, January 10, video shared via TikTok. “[I] just wanted to look as best as I [possibly] can. It was my first time living my dream on camera, and I just wanted it to be perfect.”
Stephani, the older sister to fellow DWTS pro Ezra Sosa, served as troupe dancer during the show’s season 33 in fall 2024.
“I was on Ozempic, [but] I’m currently off of it right now,” Stephani explained on Saturday. “I feel like my body has handled that really well. I was on it for a long time before getting on Dancing With the Stars, as well.”
Semaglutides like Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro are often commonly used for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with a weight-related condition, including high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes. Doctors, however, often caution individuals and celebrities against using GLP-1s for casual weight loss.
As for Stephani, she has previously been candid about her body image and even underwent liposuction 360 to help “fully transform [her] body.”
“I just wanted to shape my body and I had a really hard time my whole life trying to get the body that I’ve always wanted,” Stephani shared in a December 2024 TikTok video. “I wanted to do it for me and my career. I was so fed up with the industry telling me how my body should look [and] I was just so over it and I needed to do it for me. So I did.”
After undergoing the procedure, Stephani has continued to work out regularly and eat “relatively clean.”

“My body completely changed, so it was a combination of that, and having a personal trainer, and eating relatively clean,” she concluded. “It was the best decision I ever made, I feel like my life changed [and so did] my confidence, my happiness.”
Stephani only appeared on DWTS season 33.
“I will not be returning this season for their troupe, not going to lie it’s been hard, this is a show I dreamed about for many many years,” she wrote in a September 2025 Instagram post, weeks before the season 34 premiere. “I’m very excited for this new troupe coming in you guys are going to KILL IT. As for being on the show this season, I was asked to do group numbers, not sure the details for that or if it will for sure happen.”
She continued at the time, “As for what’s next, going to continue my career and focus on TV/Film and acting, I have a couple projects I’m so excited to share with guys! This show has changed my life. Thank you for all your love and support, especially being a Latina entering spaces for the first time, it means the world to me.”
Ezra, 25, returned to DWTS season 34 and was partnered with Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles, finishing in third place.
