Baby gender reveals are not an uncommon occurrence on social media these days, but one influencer and soon-to-be mom’s stylish twist on the trend piqued the interest of millions.
Rachel Santana, a Miami-based influencer who has been sharing some of her life’s biggest moments online, recently shared the unique way she and her husband, Austin, discovered the gender of their firstborn with a customized $6,000 Dior purse.
It all began when the couple embarked on a trip to Paris that they planned before they even started trying for a baby.
When they finally left for their vacation abroad as an expecting pair, they spontaneously decided to go into a Dior store, where they left the unveiling of their firstborn’s gender in the hands of a sales associate.

“She was so kind and sweet. She’d never done a gender reveal for anyone and she was so happy to do it,” Rachel tells PEOPLE of the staff member who, after seeing the results, was tasked with selecting either a pink or blue Small Lady Dior purse, but wrapping it up so the gender was kept a secret. “I didn’t call ahead or anything, I just showed up and hoped for the best.”
The parents-to-be were given a private room in the store as well as chocolates and juice to celebrate, making it all a very “sweet and intimate” experience.

Once inside, Rachel and Austin unboxed the elegant packaging in which lay a Pale Blue Cannage Lambskin purse announcing the upcoming arrival of their son. It was customized with a scarf around the handle, plus three sentimental charms: a “K” for Rachel’s surname, a bee for their pup Honey (who she calls their “first baby”) and a Christian Dior pearl.
“Funny enough, we got the very last baby blue bag in the entire store. When the associate told us it was the last blue bag, we were like, this is crazy, it was so meant to be,” says Rachel, who in a separate TikTok video said she had a hunch she was going to have a boy. “It’s so beautiful and every time I look at it I think of our son,” she adds of the bag.
Despite having near 4 million followers on Instagram and TikTok together, Rachel says that she never expected her announcement video to go as viral as it did (it reached 14 million views on TikTok and 22 million on Instagram). She “just thought it was such a cute idea.”
Now that the news is out, the next question is: How are the couple going to commemorate the birth of their baby?
Rachel, who is fully in her “mom era” now, admits that she hasn’t thought about receiving a push present from her husband yet.
“I’m more focused on just baby stuff at the time like planning my baby shower, decorating the nursery, which stroller to buy as we are both first-time parents. But, I’m sure I’ll come up with something fun that my husband will just love to do with me,” she says.
