A college student says one of their roommates is mad at them for eating “her” food — even though it wasn’t technically hers in the first place.

The student detailed their experience in a recent post on Reddit’s popular “Am I the A——” forum, where platform users gather to get input and advice on interpersonal issues.

The Redditor began their post by explaining that “some pizza got delivered to my apartment” the night before, noting that it “was sitting on the steps when I got home from dinner.” The user went on to explain that they texted their three roommates about the delivery and headed inside, leaving the pizza on the doorstep for the owner to grab.

“One of my other roommates (who I don’t get along with) grabbed it since she was home too and put it on the counter (she didn’t order it either),” the original poster (OP) continued, adding that the remaining roommates eventually came home and said they also didn’t order the pizza.

The OP said that her roommates were “excited” by the free food and “ate some” before putting the rest in the fridge.

However, things got tense the following day when the OP also “ate a couple slices.”

“My [roommate] was mad at me for eating ‘her’ pizza,” the Redditor shared, adding, “even though she only knew about it because I texted and nobody here paid for it.

“I feel like I have just as much right to eat the mystery pizza as anybody else, but maybe that’s not the case?” the OP concluded.

Redditors were quick to come to the OP’s defense, with most commenters agreeing that free pizza is everybody’s pizza.

“If she’s claiming it’s hers, she better show you a receipt or take a seat. it’s mystery pizza for a reason,” one person wrote.

“NTA [not the a——],” wrote another, adding, “It’s nobody’s pizza, which is the same as everybody’s pizza. Just because the chick tried to claim it all doesn’t make it hers.”

“I’d say as long as you didn’t eat more than a fair share nta,” said someone else.

Some, however, were baffled by the fact that anyone would eat mystery pizza in the first place,

“For everyone who ate that pizza, [eh],” wrote one Redditor, adding, “It just seems messed up to eat mystery pizza [when] no one knows what could have been done to it. You guys could get sick, especially if that pizza has been out there for quite a while.”
