Woman down.
Colleen Hoover threatened to ditch the August 2024 âIt Ends With Usâ premiere over Justin Baldoni in a newly unsealed email circulating on social media.
The month before the filmâs release, the author wrote to studio executives about how âbeyond uncomfortableâ she felt over âeverything happening behind the scenesâ with the actor, 42, and co-star Blake Lively.
âAm I going to be comfortable if Justin is there? No,â the 46-year-old wrote.
While she noted âcomfort [was] not her priority,â she couldnât âpromise [sheâd] go if he and his team [were] all there.â
Hoover added, âI go back and forth every day between continuing to show up for this movie or going into hiding because itâs all causing me anxiety and bringing attention that Iâm not prepared for/used to.â
Despite writing that she doesnât âlike upsetting people or choosing sidesâ and prefers âbeing neutral,â she claimed that âfeelings [had] been hurt and boundaries [had] been crossedâ in such a way that no one could âset it all aside and ⊠smile for the cameras.â
Hoover insisted she would âchoose to supportâ Lively, 38, with âwhatever decisionâ the âGossip Girlâ alum made regarding the premiere.
The bestselling writer clarified, âI do hope to see you guys at the premiere, but if that ends up not happening for any reason, please know that I will only ever have positive things to say publicly.â
Baldoniâs rep did not immediately respond to Page Sixâs request for comment.
While Baldoni, Lively and Hoover all attended the following monthâs premiere in New York City, the âJane the Virginâ alum and his loved ones were allegedly âheldâ in a separate basement room.
He and his onscreen love interest immediately sparked feud rumors by not interacting on the red carpet.
In December 2024, Lively sued Baldoni for sexual harassment, which he has denied.
The former âMan Enoughâ podcast host countersued, only for his $400 million lawsuit to get tossed last year.
Meanwhile, Livelyâs legal battle is ongoing, and her trial will kick off on May 18, 2026.
Hoover called the whole âcircusâ of a situation âunfortunateâ and âdisappointingâ in an Elle interview last year, explaining how the âIt Ends With Usâ movie drama has âovershadowedâ her book of the same name.
âIâm almost embarrassed to say I wrote it,â Hoover confessed. âWhen people ask what I do, Iâm just like, âIâm a writer. Please donât ask me what I wrote.ââ
