Chris Pratt shared unexpected insight into family life with his four kids, Jack, Lyla, Eloise and Ford, revealing that the three youngest children had never seen a movie before despite their dadâs status as one of Hollywoodâs biggest stars.
The 46-year-old spoke on the Today show about the way he parents with his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, and shared that she wanted to keep them away from screens for as long as possible.
âMy five-year-old, my three-year-old and my one-year-old have never seen movies,â Chris admitted. âKatherine is very old-school when it comes to screens and technology and all of that stuff. So, weâre waiting.â
âThereâs gonna be a season, theyâre gonna realize their dad is really cool,â he continued. âThey havenât realized it yet, but one day.â Chrisâs eldest son, Jack, whom he shares with his ex-wife Anna Faris, is more well-versed in the world of film than his younger half-siblings.
âMy 13-year-old, I took him to a screening of the first movie,â he said of the Super Mario Bros. Movie. âHe thinks itâs pretty cool.â The father of four added that Jack âlikesâ his movies, even if Lyla, Eloise and Ford donât quite understand his job yet.
Katherineâs reasoning for not letting her kids watch movies appears to be sound, considering her own upbringing as the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger, action star extraordinaire. âMy wife is very cautious around showing them anything,â Chris told Nine.com.au.
âHer dad was the Terminator, and she went to visit him on-set one day when his face was, like, half melted off, and it was a little traumatic for her. So sheâs very careful around what she allows the children to see. And my three youngest have not seen anything that Iâve done yet.â

âIâm waiting for her to, you know, go on vacation, and Iâll just give him the full movie marathon,â he said of his youngest, Ford. The Marvel star added that he will occasionally video call his kids from film sets and confuse them with his bloodied appearance.
âSometimes my children donât like it. So, I have to be mindful if Iâm covered in blood and crazy hair and wigs and all of this stuff, I might not call them because they donât fully understand what my job is, and why does Daddy look like that?â he explained. âBut I will call my son [Jack] sometimes with some of these looks, and heâs like, âWow!'â
âI recently did something on season two of The Terminal List where, when I called them, they were like, âDaddy, are you okay?!'â he continued. âI was like, âOh yeah, no, no, this is not real. Donât worry, honey.'â
Chris has spoken in the past about how his parenting style differs from Katherineâs, which creates a healthy balance for the whole family. âMy style is very heavily influenced by how I was raised. I was a very sensitive kid, but my dad was very tough and very strict,â he said on Today.
âSo I tend to be a little more mindful of the sensitivity in kids. So Iâm not as tough, and Iâm not as strict,â he shared, adding that his wife was âmore of the rule enforcerâ.
