Chris Hemsworth opened up about his array of tattoos on Monday, revealing that several of the designs were dedicated to his 13-year-old daughter, India.
The father of three explained on the SmartLess podcast that he had a Dr Seuss tattoo inked in Indiaâs honor, and nearly lasered it off until she stepped in.
âMy Dr Seuss tattooâŠI used to read that book to her a lot, and my mom read it to me â Oh, the Places Youâll Go â and she just would draw that little character and loved it,â he shared. âAnd so I got that tattoo.â
âA few years later, I was like, Iâm kinda sick of it,â he continued. âSo I started getting it taken off, I did like one laser session, and then she came home one day, and she goes, âItâs rubbing off. What happened to it? Itâs rubbing off.'â
âShe goes, âNo. I love it.â So, itâs now kind of half faded, you know, but itâs still there.â He then recounted how India created her own tattoo designs, which Chris had inked on him the very same night.
âI was sitting with a tattoo artist one night, and it was, like, 10:00, and heâs designing all these different things and all this sort of sacred geometry and trippy-looking stuff. And my daughter walked out and goes, âDad, I canât sleep. Youâre making too much noise.â Iâm like, âSorry. Sorry,'â he said. âAnd she sits down and starts squiggling and drew the three little images here.â
â[My tattoo artist] looked at me and goes, âI think [her drawings are] way cooler than anything weâre designing, and so I took a photo of that, and thatâs that.â

Chris has several tattoos that hold different meanings for him, including a matching tattoo of the Avengers logo with his Marvel castmates, and a matching forearm tattoo with his wife that spells out âC E I T Sâ, for each member of their family. Chris and his actress wife, Elsa Pataky, are parents to India and twin boys, Tristan and Sasha.
Chris and Elsa opted to move from Los Angeles to his home country of Australia after becoming parents, as they preferred the peace and privacy of farm living in the seaside town of Byron Bay.
âIt was right around the time my boys were born, and it was just, we kind of were set up in LA and not enjoying it, you know? Like nothing was shooting there. We were filming kind of everywhere else,â the Thor star explained on SmartLess.
âAnd thenâŠyouâd come home and paparazzi and all the sort of the trappings of, you know, living in that space,â he said, before adding that coming home to Australia was a restorative experience.
âYou know, when you come back from work, you wanna go on a holiday? Like coming home for me is â it feels like a holiday. We have a big farm, and horses and motorbikes and surf.â
