Chris Evans is a man of many talents.
A month after the actor, 43, made a special visit to New York City tattoo shop East Side Ink Tattoo to surprise a man who was completing an ink tribute to Evans’ Marvel character, Captain America, the co-owner reveals a little known fact about the star that he thinks could come as a shock to fans.
“One thing that surprises me still about him is that he always seems to have a secret talent that we didn’t know about,” Josh Lord tells PEOPLE exclusively of Evans.
“For example, one time I tried to show off a cool card trick I’d just learned, and I flubbed it. But Chris pulled off a flawless, and quite difficult trick, like it was nothing,” he adds. “He’s got those hidden depths.”

Lord first met Evans back in 2018, when the actor and his Avengers costars — Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Chris Hemsworth — came into the New York shop to get tattoos to commemorate their time as the original members of the Marvel team.
The group even all worked together to give Lord his own Avengers-themed tattoo at the time. “I can say that out of all of the Avengers, he was definitely the most focused, and his line is the least shaky,” Lord says, referring to Evans. “They all did great, though.”

Since then, Lord says his relationship with the star has only grown, and they’ve become close — both personally and professionally.
“I’ve known Chris for many years now, and he’s one of my favorite people,” the artist says, adding: “I’ve done a few of his tattoos.”
Overall, Lord also credits Evans — who has a large array of tattoos — for being an all-around, standup guy.
“I mean, he’s very intelligent, and he likes dogs,” he explains of the star. “But everyone knows that.”
During Evans’ recent stop at Lord’s tattoo parlor, the artist says the actor went above and beyond to surprise the Captain America fan.
“Chris went out of his way to introduce himself and asked [the customer] to wait and take a picture together,” he tells PEOPLE. “That is a classy guy.”
