Meanwhile, Charlie—who is also dad to daughter Cassandra, 40, with his high school sweetheart and 15-year-old twin sons Bob and Max with ex Brooke Mueller—has shared that being a dad helped him pull himself out of his own dark place, revealing in 2023 that he was six years sober.
“I have a very consistent lifestyle now,” the Two and a Half Men alum explained to People at the time. “It’s all about single dad stuff, and raising my 14-year-old twin boys Max and Bob.”
Charlie noted that he began his sobriety by taking it, quite literally, one step at a time.
“I think the first month I was like, I’m going to give it a month, just see if I feel any better, and if my interactions with those that are closest to me improve,” he explained. “And they did. And I’m like, all right, I’m going to go another month. And then it got traction. I had momentum.”
As he put it, “There was just instant evidence that this was the side I needed to be on. I couldn’t be in denial about it anymore.”
