Charli xcx is taking brat to the next level!
The âBoom Clapâ singer, 32, attended Varietyâs Hitmakers Brunch on Saturday, Dec. 7, in Los Angeles, wearing a completely sheer, olive-colored dress. The Grecian-style sleeveless gown was reinforced in the midsection but otherwise draped loosely toward the ground.Â
The star wore her long dark hair in soft waves and completed her look with a large diamond ring and a flawless red mani.
The singer-songwriter also spoke at the event, which brought music industry insiders together to pay homage to the teams behind the yearâs biggest albums. During her speech, the âBoysâ artist noted that the word âhitâ is a subjective term.
She then went on to remind fellow attendees that the Velvet Undergroundâs now-iconic debut album sold only 30,000 copies during its initial release in 1967.Â

âThis record is one of the most influential and groundbreaking records of our time,â she told the audience, per Variety, while marveling at its lack of initial success. âItâs the apex of fine art and dirty culture, colliding high and low, poetry meets drugs, earnest and arrogant.â
Charli also reminded the audience that even the albumâs cover art â the banana peel by legendary artist Andy Warhol â went unappreciated at the time. She then joked that while her own album art has yet to be featured at the âGuggenheim or the Whitney,â she does have merch at Urban Outfitters.
âSo I guess that means Iâm halfway there,â she quipped.
The pop star recently made headlines for garnering multiple Grammy nominations for her latest album, Brat, which dropped in June. After its release, the hit album took on even more life when it became the unofficial mantra for Vice President Kamala Harrisâ 2024 presidential campaign.

Also in attendance at the star-studded brunch was Lana Del Rey, who presented music producer Jack Antonoff with the producer of the decade award.Â
âYouâll be richer than all of us with your 50% on everything,â the âVideo Gamesâ singer joked, before Antonoff took the stage to accept his award.
Other attendees included Olivia Rodrigo, actress Rachel Sennott and industry newcomer Shaboozey, along with several hundred songwriters, producers, label executives and music attorneys.
