Jamie is a DJ who lives in New York City. During Chanel’s childhood, she was bicoastal and would spend time with her dad in NYC and then the other time with her mother in Los Angeles, per LA Weekly.
She credits her visits to the East Coast and her dad’s career as part of why she wanted to pursue rap. According to her official site, Jamie would bring along 8-year-old Chanel when he DJ’ed at packed nightclubs. There, she used to hide beneath his DJ booth.
“I’ve always been around music, and I knew it’s what I’d do for the rest of my life. I didn’t have a choice,” she said of her career in music.
