Chad Lowe’s daughter Fiona dies aged 13 as actor shares heartbreaking statement

Chad Lowe’s daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, has passed away at just 13 years old, as the actor revealed in a heartbreaking statement on Tuesday.

“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona. She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,” the family shared. 

“She was adored by her sisters, and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family, and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”

Fiona’s family ended their statement with a poignant message. “If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.”

The Life Goes On star welcomed Fiona with his wife, Kim Painter, in November 2012, and celebrated her birthday in 2025 with a snap of the teen wearing cowboy boots. “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” he wrote in the caption “Keep dancing through life, FiBear! Love you soooo much!!” 

Chad also shares his daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10, with Kim, whom he married in 2010. The father of three has been open about the fear that comes with raising daughters, and shared on the Still Here Hollywood podcast that he had learned to see the world from their perspective.

“It takes what I’ve known intellectually about women and all of equality and the glass ceiling that’s there, and how it’s a misogynistic world in a lot of ways …and it’s put it in my heart, because I have three daughters,” he explained. “And so I look at the world, really, from their perspective.”

“I see how we’re really becoming conscious of the role of women,” Chad added.

Losing their home

2025 was a difficult year for Chad and his family, after they lost their home in Los Angeles to the Pacific Palisades fires that ravaged the city. “Almost a month after we evacuated, our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home,” the 58-year-old wrote in an emotional Instagram post in February 2025.

“The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”

“Home really is where the heart is,” he shared in another social media post. “Hold those you love close. Take care of each other. This crazy thing called ‘life’ is so damn precious.”

Chad’s brother, actor Rob Lowe, shared that he had been supporting the family by providing hand-me-downs and clothing to help them get back on their feet.
