Brooklyn Beckham’s scathing statement about his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, has made waves in the celebrity world.
In January 2026, the eldest son of the former soccer pro and the fashion designer broke his silence on his and wife Nicola Peltz Beckham’s ongoing feud with his parents.
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed,” he wrote via social media. “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
Brooklyn claimed that David and Victoria have “controlled narratives in the press” about their family for his “entire life.” Additionally, he alleged that his parents have tried to “ruin [his] relationship” with Nicola since before their 2022 wedding. During their nuptials, Brooklyn claimed, Victoria allegedly ”hijacked” her son and daughter-in-law’s first dance and “danced inappropriately on [Brooklyn] in front of everyone.”
As for David, Brooklyn alleged that his father “rejected” him and Nicola when they visited him for his 50th birthday in 2025.
“I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life,” he concluded. “I grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want [is] peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”

Shortly after Brooklyn released his statement, Lily Allen took to her Instagram Story to share an edited version of the cover of her West End Girl album — a painting of Brooklyn in a blue polka dot jacket. (The original cover, created by Spanish painter Nieves González, depicts Allen in the coat.)

David Beckham’s former personal assistant Rebecca Loos, who once claimed she had an affair with the athlete, showed support for Brooklyn via an Instagram comment.
“So happy he is standing up for himself and speaking publicly finally!!!!” Loos wrote. “I have felt so bad for his poor wife, knowing too well what they can be like!”

“I didn’t think anything could be more excruciatingly embarrassing and eye-poppingly painful than fracturing a femur in a restaurant so badly I needed a new hip,” he wrote. “But the Beckham family saga has managed it! What a repellent bunch of fake, narcissistic PR-obsessed twerps.”

Irish media personality Vogue Williams shared her thoughts in a video shared via Instagram.
“I mean, I will never sleep again. I can’t sleep now, I have to stay up and see what the Beckhams respond. Brooklyn’s [Instagram] Stories. I cannot believe this,” she said. “Wow. My mind is blown. Oh, my God. This is very sad, of course, I do love the Beckhams and it’s always sad to see that happening.”

Nicola’s former hairstylist Justin Anderson called her a “bad apple” in response to Brooklyn’s statement.
“Brooklyn’s wife was one of the worst ‘celebs’ I’ve ever worked with. It’s her … she’s a baddddd apple,” the beauty professional — who has worked with Jennifer Aniston, Margot Robbie and more — commented on a post about the situation. “Everyone knows how close the Beckham family really is.”
On his Instagram Stories, Anderson added, “I’ve worked with her. Not nice. Not nice. I can say with my full chest, not good energy, bad news bears. And then, yeah, based on how many wedding planners she went through, I think she’s the issue.”
He continued, “I mean, Google her. Google her. Go into Reddit, go into the dark corners of Reddit and read a little bit about her. Not a good person … spooky energy, very spooky energy. I don’t even feel bad saying that, because when someone’s just so not nice, it always comes out. You can’t hide that. So, yeah, I do. I feel really bad for [the Beckham family]. I do.”

Alana Hadid, the sister of Nicola’s ex Anwar Hadid, threw shade at Brooklyn and his wife via an Instagram comment.
“That girl doesn’t want privacy, she’s been trying to be famous for a decade,” she wrote, adding of Brooklyn, “Ending an eight paragraph rant about his family’s dirty laundry with ‘all we want is privacy’ is all I need to know.”
Jana Kramer
Jana Kramer said that she sees both sides of the situation during an episode of her “Whine Down” podcast.
“I do feel bad for Nicola because it’s like the Meghan Markle situation,” she said, referring to the backlash toward Meghan when she married Prince Harry in 2018. “When Meghan came in, everyone blamed Meghan for the rift between the royal family.”
On the other hand, Kramer said she understood why Victoria and David would want to “control the narrative.”
“When you have the Beckham name, of course, I get that,” she continued. “You want to protect the name and you want to make things good in the press. Who wants a bad story about your family in the press?”
