Catherine Zeta-Jones continues to defy the years, with her radiant skin and enviable figure prompting one big question: what’s her secret? As it turns out, the Oscar-winning star’s approach to food is all about balance – with a structured weekday routine and a more indulgent, family-focused weekend.

The 56-year-old has offered a rare glimpse into her daily diet, revealing how she fuels her body while maintaining that signature glow. Her mornings begin early, often in what she describes as a “super quiet house,” where she starts the day with a French press coffee before taking her dog out.

Breakfast is non-negotiable, but it changes with the seasons. In winter, she opts for a comforting bowl of porridge topped with brown sugar, bananas and blueberries. When the weather warms up, she switches to a lighter option: non-fat vanilla yogurt with granola, blueberries and raspberries.

“I’m a three meals a day kind of girl,” she told Harper’s Bazaar, noting that she usually waits until around 8am to eat. But come the weekend, her routine loosens significantly. Family brunch becomes the main event, with Catherine embracing her British roots alongside her American household.

A full English breakfast featuring imported British bacon, sausages, baked beans and scrambled eggs is a regular treat, while French toast with maple syrup – inspired by Martha Stewart – keeps everyone happy. It’s a ritual she shares with husband Michael Douglas and their children, Dylan and Carys.

By mid-morning, Catherine allows herself a small indulgence, pairing a cup of tea with either a cookie or a piece of Cadbury chocolate.

Lunch is typically a light but nourishing affair, often enjoyed together as a household. A fresh salad forms the base, topped with grilled chicken, fish or aubergine, followed by homemade scones and a cup of her Casa Zeta-Jones coffee.

Dinner is equally considered. Catherine says she and Michael usually eat before 8pm, favouring dishes like apple and avocado salad alongside fillet mignon with shiitake mushroom sauce and vegetables. However, she admits to a soft spot for comfort food – particularly cauliflower cheese, a nostalgic nod to her upbringing.

And when it comes to dessert, Catherine doesn’t hold back. A self-confessed ice-cream lover, she also cherishes her mother’s apple pie, especially when served warm with a generous scoop on the side.

‘We aren’t really into eating late at night,” she revealed. “But when we are in Europe our whole life shifts into European hours so we tend to eat later but then go to bed later and get up later.”
