Fans have been missing Carrie Fisher ever since her death on December 27, 2016.
The icon of screen and stage lived a full life, growing up under an intense spotlight as the child of two famous actors and blossoming into a major career of her own, as an actress who broke out in one of the biggest films of all time, Star Wars, as well as an author and script doctor.
Through it all, she remained devoted to her mother, Debbie Reynolds, and daughter, Bille Lourd (not to mention her pup, Gary Fisher!).

Billie Lourd Mourns Her Mother
On Oct. 21, what would have been Carrie Fisherâs 68th birthday, her daughter Billie Lourd opened up about grieving her mother, eight years after her death.
âMy mom wouldâve been 68 today. Dead person birthdays are weird to say the least. On my momâs birthday every year, I try to celebrate her as much as possible, but today I really wanted to celebrate her with her,â Lourd wrote in Instagram.
âSome years my grief makes me feel the warmth of her love, some years it makes me angry, some years I feel numb but today when I woke up I just felt sad. I didnât want to celebrate, I just wanted my mom,â she continued.
Fisherâs toxicology report revealed she died from sleep apnea, atherosclerotic heart disease and âdrug use.â In the heartfelt post, Lourd wrote she had googled âdrug overdose deathsâ as she reflected on her momâs death.
âI did everything in my power to help my mom get sober but sadly my mom couldnât ever escape her addiction,â she revealed. âBut while she was alive she always shared the ups and downs of that struggle with others in hopes it would help them escape their own addiction. As an addict, being open about the struggle is the only way through.â
She concluded, âAnd same goes for those of us affected by that struggle. Sending my love to anyone out there who has lost someone to drug addiction. You are not alone. â€ïžâ
