Candace Cameron Bure is continuing to be there for her Full House costar Dave Coulier amid his ongoing cancer treatment.
The actress, 48, told PEOPLE in an exclusive interview at the 32nd Annual Movieguide Awards on Friday, Feb. 7, that she often checks in with Dave, 65, following his diagnosis with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in October 2024.
âI talk to Dave a lot, and heâs still on his journey and doing okay,â Cameron Bure said. âSo weâll see here in the next couple of months as his chemo rounds end how heâs feeling.â
The Fuller House star further explained that she checks in on him personally with âphone calls,â where they share laughs and reflect on the close bond of their two Full House characters, D.J. Tanner and Joey Gladstone.
âThatâs the most really anyone can do,â she added. âAnd you tell people how much you love them, thatâs what friends are for. Youâre just there for people, whether itâs to be a listening ear or give words of comfort and encouragement.â
Dave revealed his cancer diagnosis in an interview with PEOPLE in November 2024. He said he learned about his diagnosis after an upper respiratory infection caused major swelling in his lymph nodes.Â

âThree days later, my doctors called me back and they said, âWe wish we had better news for you, but you have non-Hodgkinâs lymphoma and itâs called B cell and itâs very aggressive,ââ he recalled.Â
Last month, Daveâs wife, Melissa Coulier, shared a candid update with WXYZ on her husbandâs health, saying, âHe has some really tough days, and as the chemo has been accumulating it gets a little tougher and more difficult.â
However, the wellness instructor stated that the comedian has kept his spirits up with humor, which has helped him during the harder days.
âHe has such a positive attitude, and you need that in order to really fight it,â Melissa said. âEvery morning, if heâs feeling up for it, we try to put on a song and do a little dance party with the dogs, because when you do feel good, you have to celebrate that too.â
She also told the outlet that âeveryone is really rallying aroundâ Dave, noting that he gets a lot of his strength from his family members who have gone through similar journeys.
âI think itâs just innately in him. He has had a lot of loss in his life when it comes to having to deal with cancer. He lost his mother, his sister, his niece. His other sister had it,â she explained. âI think for him, he takes every stride and really pulls strength from seeing the women that were so close in his life to powering through it, and he just wants to honor them.â
