A “Full House” can test a marriage.
Candace Cameron Bure spoke to Madison Prewett on Monday’s “Stay True” episode about her relationship with husband Valeri Bure being in a “constant state of reevaluation.”
Candace noted on the podcast that when couples have kids, the little ones “come in and they demand all of you.”
The “Fuller House” alum, who shares daughter Natasha, 27, and sons Lev, 25, and Maksim, 23, with Valeri, claimed, “Then they get a little older and then they pit you against your husband.”
She laughed, adding, “You don’t even realize it. They’re little manipulative beings that are so stinking cute.”
Candace, 49, stressed the importance of “finding those rhythms and really finding time with you and your husband.”
Her advice to Prewett, who welcomed daughter Hosanna in January with husband Grant Troutt, was to “prioritize the relationship.”
Candace reflected on her “great years” with Valerie — but admitted to “some years [she wishes she] could take back and do over.”
The former “View” co-host said, “I think year to year you have to reevaluate what’s working, what’s not. How are the schedules changing? And you have to continually adapt to what’s new to figure out your rhythms, and the rhythms are going to keep changing.”
She called “flexibility” vital in a relationship because it’s “the first thing that’s going to go.”
Candace, who will celebrate her 30th anniversary with Valeri next summer, made headlines earlier this month for comments about the “deep brokenness” in her romance “at times.”
She clarified to Us Weekly during the Nov. 5 interview that their connection has since been built “back up.”
“God is in the restoration business,” she gushed. “[God] loves to restore and make all things new, and he certainly has.”
Last year, Candace credited her eldest son with helping herself and Valeri, 51, through a “really rough season” when he “preached” them a “45-minute sermon on marriage.”
During the “pivotal” conversation, Lev said, “It’s probably hard to take marriage advice from someone this young [who] never experienced it before. But I don’t need to be married to know what the word of God says.’”
Lev is now a married man himself, wedding wife Elliott Dunham in January 2024.
Natasha, for her part, revealed in September that she and former Disney Channel star Bradley Steven Perry had walked down the aisle.
As for Maksim, Candace and Valerie’s youngest child has not gone public with any relationships over the years.
